5 Great Books to Gift Mom this Mothers Day

Still haven't found the perfect Mother's Day gift?  Well, there's still time to grab the perfect gift for Mom.

FaithWords has lots of books for moms of all ages.  Books that will inspire, touch and warm mom's heart.  Books make perfect gifts.  Whether your mom prefers ebooks, audible books or loves turning pages, FaithWords has a book your mom is sure to love.

Here are just a few of my favorites from the Spring 2018 slate.

First up is Joyce Meyer.  My friend, Tracey, introduced me to Meyer over a decade ago.   Meyer's personal story is one of overcoming and her new book, Living a Life You Love is very empowering.

Living a Life You Love by Joyce Meyer
#1 New York Times bestselling author Joyce Meyer explains how to love every part of your life in spite of life’s obstacles and challenges.

As many of you know my son was born with a severe speech deficit. I remember the first time I heard my kid sing aloud.  It was the sweetest sound I'd ever heard.  You see he received Speech Therapy for much of his childhood and I questioned God so many times.  Why?  Why my kid? What did I do?

Hilary Yancey candidly shares her testimony in her book Forgiving God.  Her pain thrusts into anger and finally into forgiveness as she writes of her experiences parenting a child with a disability.  Hearing her voice in the audiobook is powerful!

Forgiving God by Hilary Yancey
Restore and grow your faith in God as you read a young mother’s personal journey confronting and making peace with God after having a son born with a complex disability.

Before you ask why put a college girl's survival guide in a Mother's Day book roundup, let me explain.  I was watching the news last night and a segment aired about a student at a local college who brought her baby to class one day after she couldn't find a sitter.  The baby started to cry and her professor scooped the baby up in his arms and the baby was comforted. The professor and the young mother have since formed a bond.

There are thousands of young moms in college and the principles presented here apply to them as they would any other young lady, in my opinion.

A College Girl’s Survival Guide by Hanna Seymour
A mentor to thousands of young college women provides a plan for success based on ten years of experience, inspiring illustrations, and Biblical principles.

A Letter for Every Mother by Kara Lawler and Regan Long is such a beautiful book.  I always felt like my parenting experience was so unique and granted it was... to me... it was so nice to read the collection of letters to moms just like me.

The book is full of letters and surely your mom's story is buried in there somewhere.  I read some of the letters and was brought to tears as I thought of my mom, my grandmothers and some of the other moms in my life.

The authors have written a heartwarming compilation of letters addressed to mothers from all walks of life, meant to celebrate, inspire, and uplift them on their parenting journey.

From one tearjerker to another.  La La Lovely by Trina McNeilly is another FaithWords that brought me to tears.

I was broken.  However, my faith in our Heavenly Father has given me a strength beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Creating a space for myself amidst the hell that was breaking in my life sustained me and made me the person I am today.  I am strong.  I am amazing.  I am.

This book invites readers to find their true identity and the love of God through beautiful photographs, essays, design tips, and practical advice for creating a place of belonging.

There you have it.  5 fab reads to gift to Mom this Mother's Day.  Which of these books do you think you would gift someone this Mother's Day?

Maple and Brown Sugar Air Fryer Bacon

I've been raving about my Instant Pot but now I have a new favorite... the Air Fryer.   O M G This thing is amazing!  I don't know why I was so late to the Air Fryer craze but I am so glad I am finally onboard.   I've been talking about getting one and then after my aunt posted pics of her new air fryer, that was it off to Best Buy I went.   I wasn't sure how big of a unit I would need but I figured the 2.5 liter would suffice.  I chose the Chefman Express.  It was priced on the shelves for $85 but online for $75.99 and my local store matched the price AND I had my Swagbucks Best Buy QR code so I got 500 SBs + 2 SBs for every dollar spent so that's another 170 SBs.  So, after discounts, my air fryer ended up costing me less than the sale price.  Woohoo! There were some fancy ones on the shelves with digital display but after checking the reviews I figured since I don't fry much this model would suffice. When I think of fried foods, I think

A Pit Stop at Sho Nuff Hot Tamales in Greenville, Mississippi

My cousin and I were driving along and our tummies were rumbling as we crossed the Mississippi state line on US-82.  We didn't really have any particular dish in mind for lunch but we started seeing signs saying "Hot Tamales". "Hot Tamales", my Philly cousin asked. "Yep", I replied nonchalantly.  "I remember reading something about hot tamales being a big thing here in the Delta."   We kept driving and finally decided we would have to try these famous Mississippi Delta hot tamales. Now to decide which one.  There were literally dozens of tamale spots.  We happened upon a restaurant called Sho-Nuff and decided it was the one. We parked and entered the large, delightfully decorated restaurant.  The wall was plastered with local and national awards in recognition of those hot tamales.   There was a sign touting Sho-Nuff as the winner of the local newspaper's favorite restaurant award and 3rd place winner in the annual  Delta Hot Ta
