5 Ways to Teach Your Kids to Be Kind

Are you teaching your kid to be kind? When one of my sons was in the 1st grade he had a speech deficit and there was this one kid that teased him.  For whatever reason this little kid had it out for my kid.  Fortunately, things worked out and the two became friends by the end of the school year.   Here are some proven ways to teach your kids to be kind to others. 1. Lead by example    Practice RAOK in front of your children. Children imitate what they see us do and what better way to teach kindness than to practice kindness.   2. Donate old toys, books and clothes Each year we have the kids gather old toys and clothes they've outgrown and they get to choose a local charity and make a donation.  One year we donated their old bikes to a local charity that re-purposes bikes and re-gifts to children during Christmas.  This year the kids are old enough to volunteer to help the charity prep bikes and we are looking forward to helping out. The NKJV, Spirit-Filled Life Bible, Kingdom Equipping Through the Power of the Word by Jack W. Hayford Review

My husband and I recently started attending the weekly Bible Study at our church.  It's something he's been doing for years but only recently did I decide to join him.  Each week we delve deep into the Word and search the scriptures for understanding.  I have been searching for the perfect study bible, one that's easy to read and full of helpful resources The kind folks at Booklook Bloggers sent me the  Spirit-Filled Life Bible,  Kingdom Equipping Through the Power of the Word b y Jack W. Hayford . This is a wonderful study Bible. First of all, it's New King James Version (NKJV) which is a little closer to the King James version but the language is more defined.  The  NKJV, Spirit-Filled Life Bible,  Kingdom Equipping Through the Power of the Word is full of handy biblical references too. Here's a little more about this wonderful Bible: Book Description Encounter the power of the word. Walk in the freedom God intends. Experience the Holy Spirit. For the NKJ

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month: What Do YOU want ME to Know?

"What do you want me to know?"  My dear friend, Monica, diagnosed 11 years ago with an estrogen receptor positive tumor, wanted me to know breast cancer can affect women at any age . She has known breast cancer survivors as young as 13 and recently had a friend who was in her early 30s when she passed away from breast cancer.   Monica is the epitome of hope.  A contagious smile and one of the most faithful persons you'll ever meet.  She is an inspiration. She and her team participated in many Susan B Komen Races for the Cure over the years.  This year, she is foregoing the race but she has helped raised lots of money and awareness for breast cancer. Check out some of the fab pics from her annual Pink Passion Tailgate party.  Monica shared a story of a teenage girl she knew who is a breast cancer survivor and it reminded me of a news story I saw a few years ago of an 11-year old girl deemed the nation's youngest breast cancer survivor.  This child
