6 Home Remedies featuring Apple Cider Vinegar

The benefits of apple cider vinegar (ACV) are too plentiful to list. Apple cider vinegar contains powerful antioxidants and it's been a trusted home remedy for centuries.  My mom recommends ACV for whatever ails you.  She's one of those who can drink that magical ACV tonic of water, honey and ACV.  Me?  Notsomuch.  I have tried several times but I just can't do it.

Rather than focus on the health benefits of ACV, I decided to share some beauty uses.  It's amazing how one ingredient can make be used for so many things.  I should clarify I used Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar for each of these.

1.  Relaxing Bath:  Add 1/2 cup ACV, 1 cup Epsom salts and your favorite essential oil to your bath for a soothing, relaxing bath.

2.  Teeth Whitener:  1/2 cup ACV and 1/2 cup water.  Gargle after brushing

3. Sugar Scrub:  Mix 1 tsp. ACV and 1/2 cup sugar.  Can be used on face and makes a soothing lip scrub

PAUL, APOSTLE OF CHRIST Coming to Theaters Nationwide

Just in time for Easter, the official trailer for Paul, Apostle of Christ Movie is here! On March 23, experience the epic story of two men whose faith challenged an empire.
PAUL, APOSTLE OF CHRIST is the story of two men. Luke, as a friend and physician, risks his life when he ventures into the city of Rome to visit Paul, who is held captive in Nero’s darkest, bleakest prison cell. But Nero is determined to rid Rome of Christians, and does not flinch from executing them in the grisliest ways possible. Before Paul’s death sentence can be enacted, Luke resolves to write another book, one that details the beginnings of “The Way” and the birth of what will come to be known as the church.

Bound in chains, Paul’s struggle is internal. He has survived so much—floggings, shipwreck, starvation, stoning, hunger and thirst, cold and exposure—yet as he waits for his appointment with death, he is haunted by the shadows of his past misdeeds. Alone in the dark, he wonders if he has been forgotten . .…

Candy Free Easter Basket Ideas plus a @NatGeoKids Giveaway

Easter is almost here and we are so excited because our church holds their annual Easter Egg Hunt and our Sunday School Children's Easter Program.

I love seeing the little ones come to church in their Easter Sunday suits and dresses and super shiny, patent leather shoes.  There's always that one kid who didn't quite memorize their Easter speech and a parent on the front pew helping guide them along.

We have a tradition of gifting the kids with Easter baskets and although our pastor loads them up with sugary sweets, the kids know they're getting at least one book from me.  For the longest I thought it was the parents who were the most excited but each year it amazes me how excited the kids get to get a book of their very own.
What do you put in your child's Easter basket? What about you?  What do you put in your child's Easter basket?  Here are some great books from National Geographic Kids I'm sure any kid would love to receive.

Maple and Brown Sugar Air Fryer Bacon

I've been raving about my Instant Pot but now I have a new favorite... the Air Fryer.
O M G This thing is amazing!  I don't know why I was so late to the Air Fryer craze but I am so glad I am finally onboard.

I've been talking about getting one and then after my aunt posted pics of her new air fryer, that was it off to Best Buy I went.

I wasn't sure how big of a unit I would need but I figured the 2.5 liter would suffice.  I chose the Chefman Express.  It was priced on the shelves for $85 but online for $75.99 and my local store matched the price AND I had my Swagbucks Best Buy QR code so I got 500 SBs + 2 SBs for every dollar spent so that's another 170 SBs.  So, after discounts, my air fryer ended up costing me less than the sale price.  Woohoo!

There were some fancy ones on the shelves with digital display but after checking the reviews I figured since I don't fry much this model would suffice.
When I think of fried foods, I think of fried chicken and bacon.…

Festive Fun for St. Patrick’s Day

Turn your St. Patrick’s Day celebration into a chance to enjoy Irish heritage with hearty foods and a lively atmosphere. When it’s the one day each year it’s acceptable to pinch non-conforming friends and family, it’d be a shame not to go all out. These few simple tips can help you put together the perfect party to revel in all things green – and tasty.
Decorate with purpose. Everyone knows that green is the color of the day, but go one step further by incorporating it into different items. Banners and streamers work fine, but setting out green candles or even adorning your light fixtures with green bulbs can help you take an extra step forward.Create active fun. Instead of limiting your guests to dining and conversation, plan some simple activities to help the fun flow. Games like a “treasure hunt” for gold coins, limerick-writing competitions or even just turning up Irish-themed music can help get the party started.Eat festively. Turn your party’s food and drinks into true Irish dini…

Talking to Your Kids About Divorce

Recently a friend of mine and her husband divorced.  It's been tough on all the kids but especially the younger ones.  I've watched on the sidelines as he and his ex navigate this phase of their relationship and applaud them both for how they are handling this breakup and the change in their family dynamics.

I'm not sure how things work in other states but in our state whenever a couple with children divorces they are required to take a court mandated parenting class.  The course is designed to help the family work through the impending changes in the family structure.
Relationships can be difficult at times and sometimes couples aren't able to reconcile and divorce may be the best option for them but how do you explain this to your kids?  The book, Family Changes: Explaining Divorce to Children, does a great job sharing a difficult topic in a child-friendly manner.

The paperback has a lot of text so it may be difficult for little ones to read by themselves but it is s…

Funny how certain songs form the soundtrack of our lives.

The song I Can Only Imagine is one such tune for me.  It was a trying time for me as I was undergoing fertility treatments.  I was a wreck.  The stress was taking a toll on me physically AND emotionally.

Bedtime for Baby: God's Little Lambs, My First Bible

Bibles make great gifts.  Each year my church gifts graduating seniors with an engraved Bible.  My husband received his over 30 years ago and he STILL has that Bible and reads from it daily.  When my kids were born my mom entrusted me with the family Children's Bible.  She purchased it in the 1970s from a door to door salesman.  It's a family treasure full of our family's genealogical history.  I hope to gift our family Bible to my children and grandchildren someday.

Do you remember your first Bible?  I can't say I do but I remember the first Bible I ever loved.  It was the Children's Book of Bible Stories.  A Jehovah's Witness gifted it to me when I was a kid.  This was the first book of Bible stories I gifted to each of my children.  Now they're older and have Bibles of their own but this book of Bible stories was their first.  God's Little Lambs My First Bible is a wonderful book of Bible stories for little ones.  In addition to being a cute book of…
