Tips to Help Your Child #ConquerBedWetting

Each year our school hosts a uniform drive.  Parents are encouraged to donate worn uniforms to our children's closet.  The closet holds children's clothing in various sizes and there is roughly 1 complete outfit for each student from Pre-K to 5th grade.  When kids are in daycare and preschool, parents are often asked to provide a change of clothes.  However, when kids begin elementary school many times they come to school with the clothes they have on and if they have an accident, parents rush from their job to the school to drop off a change of clothes.  Our Children's Closet has helped remedy this problem. By providing polo shirts, blouses, skirts, skorts, pants, shoes, socks, undies and more.   Why undies  and more  you ask?  Lots of kids have *ahem* accidents at school.  These accidents may be signs of enuresis, more commonly known as bedwetting.   Many children experience incidents of bedwetting while being potty trained.  However, bedwetting in older, school-a

Candy, Loans and the Middle School Mafia

My youngest son comes in my room and ask for $3.  Of course, I ask why he needs $3.  It's not the amount, I mean I've got $3 change buried in the living room couch, it's just a rather odd amount and hey, I'm a mom... I can ask questions. He proceeds to tell me a kid reminded him during lunchtime that he owed him $3. "Why do you owe someone $3", I asked. "Oh, I bought some gum from him..." "Whoa, what", I stopped him midstream.  I know my kid and knew there had to be more to this story.  Seriously, $3 for a pack of gum.  My kid goes on to weave a tale like Mark Twain complete with intermittent exclamations of "but Mommy" in response to my questions.   After a few minutes, it became crystal clear my kid took out a loan and the Candy Boss let him know it was time to pay up to the Middle School Mafia.  Hubby and I are constantly having to quell our youngest son's sweet tooth.  He is the "Not Me" in our home w

Religious Freedom, Indiana, Arkansas and a Book Review: Square Affair

It's not often I read a book and stop because it's just not me.  However, reading Timmothy Holt's Square Affair was daunting.  I struggled from page 1 til the very end.  The book touched upon subjects that were so taboo to me.  I put the book down and commissioned myself to not doing a review at all.  However, the recent uproar over the Religious Freedom Restoration Acts being passed in Indiana and Arkansas gave me a new perspective and I challenged myself to read it all the way through. Background:   In the small Midwestern town of Dewers, amidst the turmoil of the 1960s, the casual conversations of five men lead to public sex in the courthouse restroom. Their arrest for public indecency takes the town on a journey through good and evil that will alter it, as well as the five men and their families.

Overconsumption is destroying his home planet, and synthetic foods are turning his people into degenerated mutants. As one of the few remaining but persecuted Organs, Bel'lar and his small crew are sent to find the semi-mythical blue-white planet and discover if it is really a place for humanity to begin again. But the visions of his beautiful companion Ry Sing, a mystic and seer shake Bel'lar. She tells him that eons ago, Bel'lar was faced with the burden of saving his people from their own greed. Only then he was the Great One, the sacred head of their religion. He had seen no other way to liberate them than to destroy the planet in a great cataclysm. . . But could this vision be true? Bel'lar and his crew find the blue-white planet, a wonderful, habitable place. They return home but 350 years have passed. The Synthetics have taken over the planet and
