5 Proven Housecleaning Tips Using Vinegar, Lemon and Salt

Spring is here and after being held hostage in our home by Mother Nature, I'm ready to get out and enjoy some sunshine.  Spring cleaning is full of chores we loathe but here are a few housecleaning tips using vinegar, lemons and salt to help you save time and money plus get you out the door for some Springtime fun.

1.  Clean Your Microwave
At least once a week, clean your microwave using a mixture of 1 cup water and 1 cup vinegar.    Heat in microwave for about 5 minutes and wipe clean.  For a fresh smelling alternative, add a couple of lemon slices to your vinegar/water combination.

2.  Freshen the Dishwasher and Make Glassware Shine
Add a cupful of vinegar to your dishwasher to get rid of those stale odors in your dishwasher and make your glasses shine like fine crystal.

3.  Disinfect Your Garbage Disposal
Stop!  Don't toss that lemon in the garbage.  Slice it, drop those lemon slices and a tablespoon of salt into your garbage disposal, run some water and turn the disposal on.  Be sure to let it run for a few seconds.

4.  Scrub It with Salt
Salt is a natural abrasive.  Instead of using chemical laden abrasive cleaners try using salt to scrub your tub, sink and pots and pans.  Got a tough stain?  Make a paste of water and salt and let sit overnight.  Simply scrub and rinse in the morning for a quick clean up of stubborn stains.

5.  Freshen Laundry
Freshen laundry by adding a 1/2 cup of vinegar to your load at the beginning of the wash cycle.

There you have it, five proven housecleaning tips using vinegar, lemon and salt.  Do you have any tried and true tips?  Let me know, leave a comment below.

This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three ...
