Happy New Year! Hello 2019!!!

As we usher in the new year, let us take a moment to reflect on the year that has past. This year was full of ups and downs for me but I am grateful for every single moment. The year began with the realization my child would graduate high school and ended with my kid just finished his first semester of college but there was so much that happened in between. A really big birthday.  Oh Lawd, y'all wouldn't believe how old I am if I told ya.  I don't know if that's a good thing or not but I'm getting up there. The late night text saying "She may not make it" and the realization even if you caught the 1st flight there you would not have made it in time to say "I love you".  Then hearing "She's gone". The rush to visit your best friend's bedside and your last words being "I love you".  I didn't want to make that mistake again. Being mature enough to ask her to tell them what's going on and walking away

Winter Reads

Before I head out for our Winter vacation, I wanted to share a few fab reads that I'll be reading while on break.  Reading is just one of the ways I wind down while on vacay. Seriously, my day to day is so busy being able to cuddle up with a good book with my toes in the sand is my idea of relaxation or listen to an audiobook with my wireless earbuds without interruption is indeed a good thing.   I have been reading like crazy this year and it's because it's been a banner year for great books.  Seriously, so many good books.  Let's dive right in. Dead Sea Rising by Jerry B. Jenkins.   Nicole Berman is an archaeologist on the brink of a world-changing discovery. During her first dig in Jordan, she believes she has found concrete evidence of a biblical patriarch that could change history books forever. But someone doesn't want the truth revealed. While urgently trying to connect pieces of an ancient puzzle, a dangerous enemy is out to stop her. This book

How to Find a little Time Just for YOU

The kids are home for the holidays for Winter Break.  Although there are no afterschool practices or extracurricular activities to worry about, school breaks brings their own set of challenges.   Shopping, mealtimes, activities on top of busy work schedules.  Busy, busy, busy.  School breaks are hardly ever a break for parents. With our busy schedules it can be difficult to find time just for you but it is so important.  You MUST take care of yourself to take better care of your family.  It doesn't have to be anything extravagant.  I mean there's power in just being able to soak in the bathtub without hearing "Mommy... Mommy... Mommy".  I cannot count the times I had to cut a bathroom visit short because one of my kids broke into tears once I was out of sight.  Ugh. 1.  Hot Refreshing Bath or shower A 15-20 minute soak in a tub is just enough time to relax.  Add a couple drops of your favorite essential oil, bath oil or favorite bubble bath.  The steam is

Bedtime for Baby Hello Lilac, Good Morning Yellow

Disclosure: Many thanks to MM Publicity for the opportunity to review this book My niece is learning her colors and every time she sees something in a color she recognizes she LOUDLY tells everyone what color she sees.  One day at church she saw one a red Bible, pointed to it and said "RED" while the pastor was speaking.  The entire church burst into laughter from this squeaky little voice saying "RED" over and over as my sister kept nodding in agreement while trying to quiet my niece.  It was just too cute. This fab auntie is so excited to share  Hello Lilac, Good Morning Yellow with her.  This cute book explores so many colors way outside the primary and introduces a tone of objects.  It's such a cute picture book and totally interactive. Hello Lilac, Good Morning Yellow : Introducing children to colors and in the process expanding their vocabulary, this book will delight young readers, who will recognize the myriad of things that make their world

Bedtime for Baby Book Reviews: The Gift That I Can Give for Little Ones By Kathie Lee Gifford

I just heard that Kathie Lee was leaving the Today Show.  I've always loved her.  I remember watching her on Live with Regis and Kathie Lee and then when she and Hoda paired up it was magic. They always seemed to have so much fun on the set. I've heard she's a pretty good singer but didn't know she was an author also.  In fact, she's penned a few New York Times bestsellers.   Thanks to our friends at Booklook we received a copy of the Thomas Nelson for Kids book:  The Gift That I Can Give for Little Ones  by Kathie Lee Gifford.  Yes, that Kathie Lee.   Book Description God, will You show me The gift that I can give As I grow and love And learn how to live? Help your children discover that they don’t have to wait until they are grownups to make the world a better place! The Gift That I Can Give for Little Ones by Kathie Lee Gifford helps children find unique ways to make a difference today in the lives of those around them. The beautiful board book

Bedtime for Baby Bucketloads of Friends

Disclosure: Many thanks to MM Publicity for the opportunity to review this book A friend recently shared that her child is struggling to read.  I shared a few tips with her and welcomed her to search my blog for some tips I've gathered over the years.   I suggested picture books. She was shocked as she never considered picture books for an older readers.  Really?  Who remembers the Where's Waldo books from back in the day?  My sister and I would spend hours coming through our Where's Waldo books searching for the elusive Waldo among a sea of non-Waldos. Bucketloads of Friends: A Look and Find Book  by Mia Cassany reminded me of those Where's Waldo books.  The book is perfect for new readers as it has a storyline and kids will have fun finding things all the way to the end of the book.  Also, it's perfect as an interactive book you can share with your child and let them find the items as you read the text. Bucketloads of Friends : Lucas is looking everyw
