Adding The Snoopy Treasures to Our Family Holiday Tradition

A few months ago, the three boys and the old lady attended a special Peanuts exhibit at a local library.  It was amazing sharing this experience with my children as I grew up watching the Peanuts holiday specials on tv and reading Charles Scholz's Peanuts comics in the daily newspaper.  One of my fave characters is the beloved Snoopy. Attention Peanuts lovers, The Snoopy Treasures is an entire book dedicated to all things Snoopy! Although it's not the "great American novel" written atop his doghouse, this book is pure Snoopy. The heart of the long-running, beloved comic strip Peanuts, Snoopy is an instantly recognizable character around the world. The pages in this comprehensive volume cover Snoopy's inspiration, first appearances, and his evolution into the lovable character from the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm we're familiar with today. Get the scoop on his relationships with his best friend, Woodstock, Charlie Brown, and the rest of the gang. Snoopy fans wi

The Rainbow Egg By Linda K. Hendricks, M.D.

Book Description Hope is a chicken who happens upon an egg. Looking for a place to help raise it, a guardian red bird leads her to a chicken house full of chicken families. There she finds challenges and fear ultimately leading to the most precious gift she could ever hope for. The Rainbow Egg is a beautifully illustrated, delightful fresh look at adoption as a loving gift. My Thoughts: The Rainbow Egg is a  gently written tale of adoption.  Although I appreciate the author's delicate handling of such a controversial issue, the book is very wordy.  I was unsure of the target audience.  The illustrations were very natural except for the occasional bursts of rainbow colors throughout.  Overall a decent read. Disclosure: Many thanks to BookLook for the opportunity to review this title. I received a review copy in exchange for this review. No monetary compensation was received. It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas + a Tree Classics Giveaway

Do you have your Christmas tree up yet?    Good, neither do I.  The Three Boys and an Old Lady household typically waits til Thanksgiving Day to put our tree up.  It's been an annual tradition since I was a kid and one I'm glad to carry on to my kids.  My neighbors, on the other hand, oh my neighbors.  We have one who keeps his tree up year round.  It started as they were too lazy to take it down one year and now, well now, it's been up for 3 years.  I have a couple of neighbors who pull out the Christmas inflatables the day after Halloween and a couple of neighbors who drench their homes with Christmas lights a couple of days after.  Tradition... tradition.

NIV Dad's Devotional Bible ... Perfect For Dad

I love gifting books to loved ones and devotionals are often the perfect gift.  There are tons of devotionals and devotional Bibles for moms, kids, parents, teens and tweens, but when searching for dads, the choices are often few.  When Zondervan sent me the NIV Dad's Devotional Bible I couldn't wait to check it out. Hubby is a regular Bible Study participant and our newly appointed pastor frequently uses the NIV translation.  Hubby has used the King James Version forever and wasn't too keen on purchasing a new Bible as he loves the Bible his sister gifted him a few years ago.  Moi, on the other hand, loves comparing the various translations.  Hubby is really enjoying this Bible and carries it with him to weekly Bible studies.  When asked about it, he proudly responds it was a gift from his kids.   Book Description:  A trusted source of wisdom to help men learn how to be the type of fathers God wants them to be, this Bible provides a full year of weekday devotions a
