Thank You @Kroger for Putting My Family First

Disclosure:  I received nothing in exchange for this post.  I just couldn't resist urge to share my appreciation

I visit my local Kroger stores several times a week.  I live approximately 5 miles from 3  Kroger stores and I really hate a fridge full of food.   It's a pet peeve of mine.  I stock up on staples for my pantry but I've never been big on a freezer full of stuff I plan to eat later or bins full of fruit I'll eat sometime this month.  I prefer to buy fresh fruit and produce as near to the day I plan to eat it and that's a perk of living near so many Kroger stores.  If the produce isn't the freshest at one store, I'll just go to the next.  On average, I visit my local Kroger 3-4 times a week.  I know my local butcher, the deli manager and a couple of the produce clerks and each makes sure I get the freshest items available.  These are receipts from the last few days.

Recently, I purchased some blueberries and strawberries, as well as nectarines, plums, pineapples and peaches.  I LOVE fresh fruit.  However, I occasionally experience an  allergic reaction when eating certain fruits like strawberries, nectarines, plums and peaches so I don't eat them often.  As a result of my Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS) symptoms, I take great care in choosing and preparing certain fruits to lessen the chances of me experiencing any type of allergic reaction.  That's a whole other blog post.  One I just may share some day.  Before my natural food mommies get on my case, let me state, I go to the farmer's market...OFTEN... but I live in a region of the U.S. where farmer's markets are seasonal and not year round.  Things I miss most about living in California, again a whole 'nother story.  Trust me, it's really scary knowing one bite could trigger an allergic reaction so it's important that I carefully choose, thoroughly wash and prepare fresh fruit.  I've learned by heating those forbidden fruits in the microwave or peeling them, the chances of experiencing an allergic reaction are minimized.  It's a lot of steps but it enables me to safely enjoy those fruits I love.

Earlier today, I visited my local Kroger to stock up on some sale items.  What can I say, Kroger had cereal on sale for $1.99 and I've got three boys and an old lady who love cereal so I never miss out on sales like this.  My receipt was really long considering I'd only purchased a few items.  My clerk pointed out the recall notice for something I may have recently purchased.

I was really grateful for the clerk pointing this out as I may have missed it.  Then about an hour later, my phone rang.  It was Kroger.  Kroger calling to let me know an item (the fruit) I recently purchased had been recalled and instructions on what to do.  I was so impressed that I posted on Kroger's Facebook page and sent them a tweet thanking them.

I don't know if other Kroger customers paid attention to the recall notice printed at the bottom of their receipt but I am grateful for the clerk who brought the notice to my attention and the phone call I received from Kroger.  Now, I hope my mom doesn't read this post as she will freak out so don't tell her okay?  Thanks!

I am a big fan of Kroger. They know how to do it. Probably my favorite non-specialty grocery store chain out there! And this only makes me like them more!
I've never been to a Kroger, we don't have them here, but I'm glad the clerk let you know about this recall.

I've heard of Kroger calling before because of recalls. Thankfully I have not had to deal with one. I will defiantly be looking at my receipts a little closer from now on
YAY! Not for the recall but the awesome customer service. Kroger is my go-to for groceries as well. I've got my favorite cashier and know the late night crew by name.

Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop

Spring is in full swing.  The birds are singin'.  The pollen is falling and temps are FINALLY warming up.  So what better time time to start planning our Summer getaways. This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three ...
