5 Tips to Upgrade Your Living Space in 5 Minutes or Less

Many thanks to Commercial Silk for sponsoring this post

Looking to update your living space without spending a lot of money?
Check out these 5 tips to update a room in less than 5 minutes without breaking the bank.

1.  Clean it Up
Nothing makes a space look newer than a quick dusting off.  Break out the vacuum and give the room a quick vacuuming or grab the feather duster and dust away.

2.  Flowers
Add a pop of color to your decor by adding brightly colored flowers to a room.  No green thumb.  No problem.  Silk flowers and plants have come a long way.  I love orchids but they can be so temperamental and are only available certain times of the year at my favorite garden shop but I have a silk arrangement from Commercial Silk Plants  that "blooms" year round.
3.  Lighting
Change the entire room by changing the lighting.  Switch the lamps from the bedroom to the living room.  Move a floor lamp from the living room to the den and have the entire family doing a double take.  Or simply change the bulb to a lower watt.  A lower watt bulb adds an immediate softness to a room.

4. Move Something
Watch what happens when you rearrange the furniture or move a few knick-knacks from the fireplace to a side table.  Moving items easily gives the room a completely new look.

5. Candles
Enhance the look of a room with candles.  A single pillar candle or a group of candles strategically arranged add a warmth to any space.
There you have it, 5 tips to update your living space in 5 minutes or less.  What are some of your favorite tried and true timesaving tips?

Flowers can really perk up a room and lighting in everything. Of course, a clean, decluttered room is the first step. Love these ideas!

Flowers are always a pick me up and bring color to a room. Decluttering and cleaning is important. I change out pillows for a new look as well.

These are all great suggestions. When I was younger I used to rearrange the furniture all the time. Now I have a senior dog with dementia so I won't move the furniture since her vision isn't the best.

Fresh flowers and plants always make me happy. As does tidiness. No one can relax in the midst of chaos.

YES! Love adding flowers and candles especially... but they really shine when the space is cleaned up. Great tips! I have flowers on my kitchen counter right now too and it makes me smile.

I like to do a little furniture rearrange to spruce things up a little. Flowers are always a must have and we actually prefer higher wattage for lighting as our house is smack dab inbetween two taller homes

Such great ideas! I function best when my place is in order. I'm not a big fan of flowers but candles I absolutely love.

I knew we are missing something in the living room but hasn't figured it out until now. I think we need the flowers and to dim the light. Thank you for the tips!

Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop

Spring is in full swing.  The birds are singin'.  The pollen is falling and temps are FINALLY warming up.  So what better time time to start planning our Summer getaways. This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three ...
