@DisneyHyperion releases Burning Magic by Joshua Khan

Many thanks to Disney Hyperion for providing this book for review.
All opinions are mine.
I'm the kinda' reader who just can't dive into a book that's part of series without reading the previous books in the series.  So before diving into Burning Magic by Joshua Khan, I had to find copies of the previous books in the series.
As luck would have it my kids had Shadow Magic and Dream Magic right on their bookshelves.  This series has the makings of a great on screen movie.  A strong, female lead character paired with a rebel of sorts boy.  The pair lead a cast of unforgettable characters sure to transport middle school readers into a world of magic and mystery.

The chapters are short but the adventures of Lily and Thorne are HUGE!

BURNING MAGIC (Disney-Hyperion; On Sale: April 10, 2018) by Joshua Khan is the third and final installment in the Shadow Magic trilogy. In this sizzling adventure, Lily the sorcerer queen and Thorn the giant-bat-whisperer journey to the Sultanate of Fire to help their friend K'leef in a no-holds-barred contest for the throne.
When Lily, aka the "witch queen" and bat-rider extraordinaire Thorn travel to Sultanate of Fire, things go terribly wrong. Instead of celebrating a reunion with their old friend K'leef, they are thrust into royal murder, an epic quest, and a deadly battle for the throne.

While investigating the murder, Lily learns shocking truths about her life that could destroy all she has achieved. Yet, among the ruins of her old life, she has the opportunity to become someone greater . . . and more terrifying.

Thorn and the magnificent bat, Hades, join the timid K'leef and the idiotic Gabriel Solar in a quest to find a phoenix. These fire birds are the key to saving the sultanate, but they nest within the Shardlands. The boys must defeat not only the monsters of that magical wilderness, but also rivals eager to claim the throne for themselves. Rivals that include a renegade from House Shadow.

Khan has done it again and even though I hate saying goodbye to Lily and Thorne, there is some sense of closure.   Readers are finally given answers about the background of Lily and Thorne and the reveals are surprising.  I am hoping for at least one more adventure...
Burning Magic is available at bookstores nationwide.  If your child enjoys adventurous tales with magic and mystery, then Burning Magic and other books in the Shadow Magic trilogy are probably a book they would enjoy.

I've never heard of this series but it sounds really cool! I am actually still partial to middle-school age book series when I want an easy read. This sounds like it could be the Harry Potter of today.
This sounds like a neat series. I have never heard of it before. But, then again, I do not have any middle schoolers yet. I will keep it in mind for when my daughter is a little older.

My son is a huge lover of fantasy fiction and has been reading this series. He said this third book really has done a great job of continuing the Shadow Magic series and is a wonderful end to the trilogy. As with any great series, he was left wanting more and hoping the characters might show up again in the future!

If it is a story line that is easy to pick up I can do the same. Seems like I always go back and start from the beginning anyway so I might as well do it in the first place. Sounds like a great book.

Right now, we are reading Dr. Seuss and Franklin books. However, my son is only five, not a middle schooler just yet. I do collect books along the way that he will eventually read.
ALWays on the hunt for books for my readers. Love action. And fantasy. May need to read it before they do!!

Sounds like a great book - I'll have to check this out for my daughter. She does enjoy reading this kind of book, and it sounds like a fun story for getting kids engaged in the plot.
I'm the same way about books, television series and movies. If there's a previous installment I need to read or see it before I read or see the newer release.

I like reading book series too. I just don't like it when I can't find the next one or the one in between.

This is a new series for me! I've never heard of it but I wonder if my kids have. I have a couple that would love it.
Unfortunately the closest middle schooler is El Dr and his idea of a good series is Captain Underpants. Si, BB knows. She's working on expanding his horizons. Hopefully this will be the series to do that. Gracias for the intro.
My kids really enjoyed the Happy Potter series. They are now working on the Divergent series and it is a hit in our house. Mom likes them too!

Maple and Brown Sugar Air Fryer Bacon

I've been raving about my Instant Pot but now I have a new favorite... the Air Fryer.   O M G This thing is amazing!  I don't know why I was so late to the Air Fryer craze but I am so glad I am finally onboard.   I've been talking about getting one and then after my aunt posted pics of her new air fryer, that was it off to Best Buy I went.   I wasn't sure how big of a unit I would need but I figured the 2.5 liter would suffice.  I chose the Chefman Express.  It was priced on the shelves for $85 but online for $75.99 and my local store matched the price AND I had my Swagbucks Best Buy QR code so I got 500 SBs + 2 SBs for every dollar spent so that's another 170 SBs.  So, after discounts, my air fryer ended up costing me less than the sale price.  Woohoo! There were some fancy ones on the shelves with digital display but after checking the reviews I figured since I don't fry much this model would suffice. When I think of fried foods, I think

A Pit Stop at Sho Nuff Hot Tamales in Greenville, Mississippi

My cousin and I were driving along and our tummies were rumbling as we crossed the Mississippi state line on US-82.  We didn't really have any particular dish in mind for lunch but we started seeing signs saying "Hot Tamales". "Hot Tamales", my Philly cousin asked. "Yep", I replied nonchalantly.  "I remember reading something about hot tamales being a big thing here in the Delta."   We kept driving and finally decided we would have to try these famous Mississippi Delta hot tamales. Now to decide which one.  There were literally dozens of tamale spots.  We happened upon a restaurant called Sho-Nuff and decided it was the one. We parked and entered the large, delightfully decorated restaurant.  The wall was plastered with local and national awards in recognition of those hot tamales.   There was a sign touting Sho-Nuff as the winner of the local newspaper's favorite restaurant award and 3rd place winner in the annual  Delta Hot Ta
