3 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Corsage

Prom season is upon us and I wanted to share a few tips on choosing the perfect corsage.  We've found the perfect suit and his date has found the perfect dress so now we just have to find one more thing... the perfect corsage.

Real or Fake
The decision to have your corsage made with real or fake flowers is a personal choice.  If using real flowers, remember real flowers can be a bit tricky to work with and you have to be very careful not to injure the flower.  Also, some flowers like orchids, roses, carnations and lilies are ideal for use as corsages.  

If real flowers aren't your thing, consider artificial flowers.  Artificial flowers also make beautiful corsages and are often less expensive than using real flowers.

Color, Color, Color  
Most people think the color must be the exact same to be a perfect match to compliment your prom attire but that's not necessarily true.  A contrasting color also pairs well or even a simple white corsage works well.

Wrist or Pin 
Wrist corsages are the most commonly used corsage nowadays but that wasn't always the case.  Back in the day, corsages were pinned on the dress and by the end of the night the corsage was either tilted to the side or somewhere on the dance floor because we lost the pins.
I can remember my date trying to get my corsage on just right and me flinching praying he wouldn't accidentally poke me with that straight pin.  

The twins' dates all opted for a wrist corsage and we purchased matching boutonnieres.  Although the wrist corsage can be very intricate in design, the boutonniere is often a simple flower or two.  The Silk Plants Direct blush rose corsage was perfect for crafting a classic boutonniere.
