It's Beginning to Look a Little Like Christmas

This post is sponsored by At Home. All opinions are my own. #AtHomeStores #sponsored

I love decorating our home for the holidays. We typically put our Christmas decorations up the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This year we are hosting the family Thanksgiving dinner and I wanted to put up our Christmas decorations but the kids wouldn’t have it.

No one wanted to break our annual tradition of finding the perfect tree, our annual ornament shopping trip and an afternoon of snacking while listening to Christmas tunes and decorating the Christmas tree. But since we are having friends and family over for Thanksgiving, I still wanted to add a few holiday touches to our home to put our guests in the holiday spirit.

Since putting up the tree was off limits, I decided to decorate a few areas in our home to welcome our guests.

Starting with the front door. I switched out our Fall wreath and hung the Christmas wreath on this glittery gold-colored wreath hanger with the word “Joy”.

The wreaths were a Flash Find at our local At Home store. They were on sale for $9.99 and there were several designs to choose from.
I usually make our wreath and occasionally make a few extra to gift and share. Wreaths are so easy to make, you just need a wire wreath frame, some decorative accents and a few feet of garland.

Whether it’s a popcorn garland, a string of beads or the classic pine garland. Garlands are a simple way to make things look Christmas-y.

A fireplace draped with garland has a way of filling a room with the Christmas spirit.
Each year we decorate the fireplace mantel with Christmas cards, ornaments and Christmas stockings hung from a decorative garland. The fireplace is such a focal piece in our living room and so easy to decorate.
A basket full of complimenting ornaments and a nativity set on an end table complete the décor.
I like to feature home décor and holiday gifts family and friends have given me in my holiday decorations. I love it when people ask where I got a certain piece from and I can tell them it was a gift.
Doesn’t this nativity set my mother in law gave me look beautiful placed beside this box of Christmas ornaments?
A few simple touches to welcome the Christmas spirit and I did it all without breaking our family tradition.
What are some of your family’s annual holiday traditions?
Have you started decorating for Christmas yet?

I love decorating for Christmas, too! We got our tree on Sunday and we are decorating it today. I wanted to let the branches settle before we put the ornaments on.
I can't even believe Christmas is under a month away. I don't even know where the year 2017 has gone!

We have the same tradition of putting up the Christmas tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Ours is up but I have not changed out my fall wreath to a holiday wreath yet. I need to get on that one.

We always host Thanksgiving, so we don't decorate until Black Friday. This year we didn't host so we put our tree up.

We always decorate on the weekend that works best. This year that ended up being a week before Thanksgiving. It was early but now it is done.

I always wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate for the holidays. We have our wreath up and I brought out all my totes full of decorations to sort out.

It is these small touches that make the spirit of Christmas come alive. A garland and flowers tastefully and strategically placed adds that touch of Christmas and celebration.
The decoration you have on your fireplace mantel is the same as mine! I love decorating with poinsettias. They are so pretty and I so love their red vibrant color!

You just reminded me to make a wreath- thanks! Our neighbor has a gorgeous eucalyptus tree that will be my greenery this year. Hope it turns out as lovely as your decor.

Maple and Brown Sugar Air Fryer Bacon

I've been raving about my Instant Pot but now I have a new favorite... the Air Fryer.   O M G This thing is amazing!  I don't know why I was so late to the Air Fryer craze but I am so glad I am finally onboard.   I've been talking about getting one and then after my aunt posted pics of her new air fryer, that was it off to Best Buy I went.   I wasn't sure how big of a unit I would need but I figured the 2.5 liter would suffice.  I chose the Chefman Express.  It was priced on the shelves for $85 but online for $75.99 and my local store matched the price AND I had my Swagbucks Best Buy QR code so I got 500 SBs + 2 SBs for every dollar spent so that's another 170 SBs.  So, after discounts, my air fryer ended up costing me less than the sale price.  Woohoo! There were some fancy ones on the shelves with digital display but after checking the reviews I figured since I don't fry much this model would suffice. When I think of fried foods, I think

A Pit Stop at Sho Nuff Hot Tamales in Greenville, Mississippi

My cousin and I were driving along and our tummies were rumbling as we crossed the Mississippi state line on US-82.  We didn't really have any particular dish in mind for lunch but we started seeing signs saying "Hot Tamales". "Hot Tamales", my Philly cousin asked. "Yep", I replied nonchalantly.  "I remember reading something about hot tamales being a big thing here in the Delta."   We kept driving and finally decided we would have to try these famous Mississippi Delta hot tamales. Now to decide which one.  There were literally dozens of tamale spots.  We happened upon a restaurant called Sho-Nuff and decided it was the one. We parked and entered the large, delightfully decorated restaurant.  The wall was plastered with local and national awards in recognition of those hot tamales.   There was a sign touting Sho-Nuff as the winner of the local newspaper's favorite restaurant award and 3rd place winner in the annual  Delta Hot Ta
