Easy Appetizers: Olive Tapenade

I received free product in exchange for my honest review.

The Holiday season is upon us and that means... FOOTBALL! and appetizers galore.  With a husband, three growing boys and all their friends huddled around the big screen tv on game day it's vital we have snacks on hand.

Moi being moi is always on the hunt for new recipes to wow the crowd and what better audience to experiment on, I mean try out my new creations.

This year our high school football team is undefeated and heading to the state championships.

We're also ranked #10 in the nation.  GO CHARGING WILDCATS!

The game is sure to draw a crowd and will be televised live on TV.  It IS the State Championship after all.  To celebrate we picked up a couple of Hormel Gatherings Party Trays and let the kids invite their friends over to watch the game.

Hormel Gatherings Party Trays always satisfy.  Everyone loves the stackable, pre-cut meat and cheese and tasty crackers.  I love that they're packed full of protein and calcium.
Each Hormel Gatherings party tray comes with crackers, Sargento colby jack cheese and cheddar cheese and either hard salami and pepperoni or honey ham and turkey.

Hormel Gatherings Hard Salami & Pepperoni Party Tray
The Hormel Gatherings Supreme Party Tray comes with Hormel hard salami, Hormel Genoa salami, Sargento pepper jack cheese, Sargento Harvarti cheese and crackers and Peloponnese pitted olives.
Got a larger crowd?  Check out the Hormel Gatherings Supreme Party Tray because the saltiness of the Peloponnese pitted olives pairs so well with the bite of the pepper jack cheese and the savory salami.  Oh, and because it gives me a jump start on my tasty Olive Tapenade easy appetizer.
Olive Tapenade is like an olive hummus. The Hormel Gatherings Supreme Party Tray gives me a headstart because it contains the right amount of black and green Peloponnese pitted olives. A little garlic, a little olive oil and a squeeze of lemon and you've got a fancy schmancy party tray.
Ingredients:
-1 container Hormel Gatherings Supreme Party Tray olives (approx. 1 cup)
  -2 cloves garlic
  -2 tbsp. olive oil
  -2 tsp. lemon juice

Directions:
Pour all ingredients into blender and pulse blend to desired consistency. Save the olives
container. Don't blend too fine or it will be mushy
Spoon tapenade into the olive serving container that comes with the party tray and
serve with your Hormel Gatherings Supreme Party Tray.
There's also a great recipe for Hormel Pepperoni and Olive Tapenade on the Hormel website http://www.hormel.com/Brands/PartyTray.  Ooh, that sounds yummy doesn't it?

Here's your chance to win a Hormel Gatherings Party Tray just in time for your holiday entertaining.

This tray would be so delicious! Yum! Olives frighten me so I'd pass on that, BUT my son loves olives, so he'd gobble down on this.

I will make this for my son in law, believe it or not he is the only one in the family who likes olives. Can't go wrong with a fruit, vegetable or meat trays.

Believe it or not my kiddo loves to snack on anything black olives! I'm pretty sure he would love this appetizer. He would probably eat it all on his own.

Those trays are also great for a family movie night. Hubby loves olives so I'll bet he'd enjoy this recipe.

I buy those a lot for gatherings. I mean who doesn't love munching on cheese and crackers!? While not an olive fan, my husband and kids are and I would buy the one with the olives in it just for them. This is definitely football crowd type food.

Maple and Brown Sugar Air Fryer Bacon

I've been raving about my Instant Pot but now I have a new favorite... the Air Fryer.   O M G This thing is amazing!  I don't know why I was so late to the Air Fryer craze but I am so glad I am finally onboard.   I've been talking about getting one and then after my aunt posted pics of her new air fryer, that was it off to Best Buy I went.   I wasn't sure how big of a unit I would need but I figured the 2.5 liter would suffice.  I chose the Chefman Express.  It was priced on the shelves for $85 but online for $75.99 and my local store matched the price AND I had my Swagbucks Best Buy QR code so I got 500 SBs + 2 SBs for every dollar spent so that's another 170 SBs.  So, after discounts, my air fryer ended up costing me less than the sale price.  Woohoo! There were some fancy ones on the shelves with digital display but after checking the reviews I figured since I don't fry much this model would suffice. When I think of fried foods, I think

A Pit Stop at Sho Nuff Hot Tamales in Greenville, Mississippi

My cousin and I were driving along and our tummies were rumbling as we crossed the Mississippi state line on US-82.  We didn't really have any particular dish in mind for lunch but we started seeing signs saying "Hot Tamales". "Hot Tamales", my Philly cousin asked. "Yep", I replied nonchalantly.  "I remember reading something about hot tamales being a big thing here in the Delta."   We kept driving and finally decided we would have to try these famous Mississippi Delta hot tamales. Now to decide which one.  There were literally dozens of tamale spots.  We happened upon a restaurant called Sho-Nuff and decided it was the one. We parked and entered the large, delightfully decorated restaurant.  The wall was plastered with local and national awards in recognition of those hot tamales.   There was a sign touting Sho-Nuff as the winner of the local newspaper's favorite restaurant award and 3rd place winner in the annual  Delta Hot Ta
