Celebrating National Pasta Day while on Nutrisystem #sponsored

Delicious homemade marinade from pot to table in less than 10 minutes.
Disclosure: I am a Proud #NSNation Blogger and I receive Nutrisystem in exchange for sharing my journey.
The recipe and the opinions expressed above are 100% mine.
When I first started my weight loss journey I thought I would have to give up my favorite food:  PASTA

I love pasta.  My family even jokes about how much pasta we eat in the Three Boys and an Old Lady pasta.  I worried about missing out on my favorite dish once I started a nutrition plan but was surprised to see how many healthy pasta dishes Nutrisystem offers. We know pasta was high in carbs and we pile on heavy sauces and the calories mount up and so do the pounds.  However, you really can enjoy pasta and STILL lose weight.

Nutrisystem offers lots of pasta choices including Ravioli Formaggio, Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, Creamy Beef Alfredo, Cheese Tortellini, Chicken Pasta Parmesan, and so many more choices for pasta lovers like me.
Celebrating National Pasta Day
I'm so glad I don't have to miss out on all the fun of National Pasta Day and I can stay committed to my goal of getting healthier.

Tonight while I dine on Nutrisystem Chicken Parmesan, my family will indulge in a whole grain pasta topped with my One Pot Marinara.  This marinara is a family fave and it's quick and easy.  Now while I do make a tasty homemade marinara using fresh, garden tomatoes, this recipe is perfect for busy days like today with school, work and after school activities.

Making homemade marinara using fresh garden tomatoes takes a while but here's one of my favorite recipes for a quick and easy one pot marinara using canned crushed tomatoes.  Be sure to look for low sodium or sodium free crushed tomatoes and if you are using fresh basil remember it can be a tad stronger than dried so you may need to use less.  I usually make my own Italian seasoning or buy a store brand.  Look for an Italian seasoning containing basil, oregano, thyme and rosemary to make your dish pop!
Homemade pasta sauces are easy to make and even though your grandma may have let hers simmer all day long, you don't have to.  You can still enjoy the rich flavors of fresh, homemade sauces without spending all day in the kitchen.

Oh, I didn't weigh myself this morning but I promise to tweet my weight loss to date later this week. Be sure to follow @3Boys_OldLady and look for the #NSNation hashtag.

Are you celebrating National Pasta Day?  What's your favorite pasta?

I love pasta as well. We used to eat quite a bit of it - it's just good and so easy to incorporate into recipes! My husband is over weight and has to loose weight, so we have really cut pasta out - boo!!
I'd like to think that all pasta is my favorite. LOL. But if I had to choose, I love Creole seafood pasta. It's a dish that I learned to make while visiting family in New Orleans.

I would have a hard time giving up pasta too! It is one of the best culinary inventions ever. I am glad though that Nutri System did not eliminate this and still provided options to enjoy a plate of delicious pasta AND still lose weight.
Best of luck to you on your weight loss journey. I hope that you are able to reach all your goals without too much pain.

Maple and Brown Sugar Air Fryer Bacon

I've been raving about my Instant Pot but now I have a new favorite... the Air Fryer.   O M G This thing is amazing!  I don't know why I was so late to the Air Fryer craze but I am so glad I am finally onboard.   I've been talking about getting one and then after my aunt posted pics of her new air fryer, that was it off to Best Buy I went.   I wasn't sure how big of a unit I would need but I figured the 2.5 liter would suffice.  I chose the Chefman Express.  It was priced on the shelves for $85 but online for $75.99 and my local store matched the price AND I had my Swagbucks Best Buy QR code so I got 500 SBs + 2 SBs for every dollar spent so that's another 170 SBs.  So, after discounts, my air fryer ended up costing me less than the sale price.  Woohoo! There were some fancy ones on the shelves with digital display but after checking the reviews I figured since I don't fry much this model would suffice. When I think of fried foods, I think

A Pit Stop at Sho Nuff Hot Tamales in Greenville, Mississippi

My cousin and I were driving along and our tummies were rumbling as we crossed the Mississippi state line on US-82.  We didn't really have any particular dish in mind for lunch but we started seeing signs saying "Hot Tamales". "Hot Tamales", my Philly cousin asked. "Yep", I replied nonchalantly.  "I remember reading something about hot tamales being a big thing here in the Delta."   We kept driving and finally decided we would have to try these famous Mississippi Delta hot tamales. Now to decide which one.  There were literally dozens of tamale spots.  We happened upon a restaurant called Sho-Nuff and decided it was the one. We parked and entered the large, delightfully decorated restaurant.  The wall was plastered with local and national awards in recognition of those hot tamales.   There was a sign touting Sho-Nuff as the winner of the local newspaper's favorite restaurant award and 3rd place winner in the annual  Delta Hot Ta
