25 Family Friendly Halloween Movies + a Killer Candy Corn Popcorn Recipe

Halloween is just a few days away and now is the perfect time to grab the remote and queue a few movies for a Halloween Family Movie Night.

Most of these movies are available on DVD or via your fave streaming channel (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc. or you may even find a couple of them airing on cable. Once you’ve found the perfect flick it’s time to think about snacks and nothing screams “Halloween” like candy corn. My kids and I like to whip up this easy Candy Corn Popcorn. It’s super easy to make and perfect for snacking.
Ingredients:
2 c. popped popcorn (stovetop, air-popped or microwave)
½ c. candy corn
½ c. M and M’s candies

DIrections:
1.  Pop some popcorn
2.  WHILE THE POPCORN IS STILL WARM, dump in the candy corn let it melt slightly.  Stir a bit to mix the candy corn throughout.  Some pieces won't melt and that's okay.  If you want a little EXTRA candied corn, you can heat the candy corn in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds and pour on top of the cooked popcorn.
3.  Add the M and M's and stir a little to mix it up.
4.  The candy corn will harden a bit and that's okay.
5.  Serve

Now grab the pumpkin and get ready to scream courtesy of some of our fave family friendly Halloween flicks with just enough fright without scaring the kids too much.

1. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
2. Coraline
3. Hotel Transylvania
4. SpongeBob Squarepants: Halloween
5. The Nightmare Before Christmas
6. Casper
7. Bunnicula the Vampire Rabbit
8. Halloweentown
9. Halloweentown 2
10. Bedknobs and Broomsticks
11. The Black Cauldron
12. Gremlins
13. Twitches
14. Twitches, Too
15. Beetlejuice
16. Frankenweenie
17. The Berenstain Bears: Trick-or-Treat / Think of Those in Need
18. Hocus Pocus
19. Yo Gabba Gabba! Halloween!
20. Max and Ruby: Max and Ruby’s Halloween
21. SpongeBob Squarepants: Ghouls Fools
22. Go, Diego Go! Diego’s Halloween!
23. Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Halloween Parade
24. The Adams Family
25. The Little Ghost

What's your favorite Halloween family friendly thriller?

Hocus Pocus is one of our family favorites to watch every year. Making popcorn is cheap and you can add anything to it to make it even better.

There's so many fun Halloween movies that are not scary. It would be fun to binge watch a whole bunch of them right before we go trick-or-treating.
What a great line up of movies, I haven't seen Coraline in years myself, I really must rewatch that sometime soon.

Halloweentown!! I've seen those movies so many times :) I have seen most of the movies on this list, but I would love to see the rest of them. And your popcorn recipe - yum!

These are such classics! I really need to make sure to watch some of my old favorites. Great recommendations!
I've seen a good number of those movies and they're good suggestions. The popcorn is easy to make and a nice blend of sweet and salty.

These movies all are really exciting. My pick of the lot for the family would be "The Little Ghost".

Looks like a great list. My kids are a little too old for these but I will still go ahead and ask them. They may still be interested in a few of them. Thanks for collating this list.

Nice suggestions for a Halloween movie night. I noticed you didn't include SPOOKLEY THE SQUARE PUMPKIN which is one of my kids favorite Halloween tv specials.
Sounds like a tasty popcorn treat! These are all movies that we watch as a family every year, except the ones that are for preschoolers. ;-)

Holy moly! That's a lot of Halloween movies. I'm printing them out for reference. We love watching holiday themed movies. Thanks!
This is such a great list of Halloween movies. I am going to have to bookmark this for reference!

We love a lot of these movies but there are two that stand out as faves. Beetlejuice is one of them and I think it's the kids all time fave, and the Gremlins come in a close second.
