Living the Good Life at Mystic Dunes Resort and Golf Club in Orlando

I was in Orlando earlier this summer attending a conference and brought the kids and a friend along. Hubby opted to stay home since he and I are cruising to the Bahamas later this year so I invited one of my besties to join me.
She and I travel for business and stay at chain hotels so I guess she was expecting a regular hotel with free breakfast. Ummmm…no-oh. Work is work and vacation is vacation.  I learned a long time ago that hotel rooms are ideal for a 1- or 2-night stay when traveling with kids but family vacations are all about luxury and Mystic Dunes Resort fit the bill.
Mystic Dunes is centrally located near all the theme park attractions including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and you can even purchase tickets at their Florida Ticket Station.

Check in was quick and the desk clerk was very knowledgeable and shared tips on getting to the local theme parks and even helped us reserve a shuttle to take me to my conference and back.

She provided us with a map and directed us to our room. The map made it seem like we were in Neverland but in reality we were just down the street from the guest check-in area.
We found our building, parked the SUV and upstairs to our waiting suite.
We reserved a 2-bedroom suite with a full kitchen which included a dishwasher, full size stove, refrigerator and microwave as well as seating areas for 4.
It's always nice to have a variety of dining options while on vacation. You can whip up a delicious dinner in your very own spacious kitchen, order room service, or enjoy elegant dining at the onsite restaurant.
Cheers to a Great Day!
There is a market onsite which was really convenient for snacks and forgotten toiletries. However, we we spotted a grocery store just a few minutes drive from our suite so we stocked our fridge with groceries for the week.
Sophie's Origami
The suite was huge. A spacious 2-bedroom suite overlooking a waterfall near one of the pools.
Did I mention there were four pools onsite include a huge pool area with a 2-story water slide, swim up tiki bar and private cabana rentals? Since we were spending a week there the kids made plans to visit each of the pools throughout our stay.

Sometimes it’s the little things like being able to wash a load of clothes after a day of swimming or an accident. Hey things happen when you’re traveling with kids. Or relaxing in a jacuzzi tub after a long day at the parks.
The grounds at Mystic Dunes Resort are gorgeous and we really enjoyed walking and biking around the property.  I hate that we didn't check out any bikes or visit the miniature golf or visit the gym but we saw others enjoying those resort amenities.  There was just so much to see and do.
“Welcome home”. Every time we entered the gates at Mystic Dunes Resort, the guards greeted us by saying “Welcome home.”
Funny thing, it felt like home.  We really did enjoy our stay and can't wait to visit again.

If you are ever in the Lake Buena Visit area and looking for accommodations near all of the major attractions, be sure to check out Mystic Dunes Resort and Golf Club.

What a beautiful resort! We visit Orlando fairly often to go to Disney world, but usually stay on site. This gives me ideas to look elsewhere.

This looks like a fabulous place to stay. I'll keep it in mind if I'm ever in that area again. Most of the time I stay on property at Disney, but it might be more affordable to stay at a place like this.

That looks like a great place to stay. I have too many kids for most regular hotel rooms so we usually need a suite. I'll keep this place in mind.

What a beautiful resort! I just love that little kitchen and breakfast bar - I hate taking my girls out to breakfast on vacation. They never eat much and it adds so much cost.

That looks like a pretty relaxing hotel! I love places that have everything all in the same place so you don't need to drive around in unfamiliar city to find something to eat or stuff to do.
Spectacular! What a gorgeous place to stay. It is really important that the place we stay has these types of amenities, especially when traveling as a family.

This looks like a great place to stay! These is so much to do in the area, but staying at a great resort like this would be a vacation all on it's own. Also, having a washer and dryer in the hotel is amazing!

Maple and Brown Sugar Air Fryer Bacon

I've been raving about my Instant Pot but now I have a new favorite... the Air Fryer.   O M G This thing is amazing!  I don't know why I was so late to the Air Fryer craze but I am so glad I am finally onboard.   I've been talking about getting one and then after my aunt posted pics of her new air fryer, that was it off to Best Buy I went.   I wasn't sure how big of a unit I would need but I figured the 2.5 liter would suffice.  I chose the Chefman Express.  It was priced on the shelves for $85 but online for $75.99 and my local store matched the price AND I had my Swagbucks Best Buy QR code so I got 500 SBs + 2 SBs for every dollar spent so that's another 170 SBs.  So, after discounts, my air fryer ended up costing me less than the sale price.  Woohoo! There were some fancy ones on the shelves with digital display but after checking the reviews I figured since I don't fry much this model would suffice. When I think of fried foods, I think

A Pit Stop at Sho Nuff Hot Tamales in Greenville, Mississippi

My cousin and I were driving along and our tummies were rumbling as we crossed the Mississippi state line on US-82.  We didn't really have any particular dish in mind for lunch but we started seeing signs saying "Hot Tamales". "Hot Tamales", my Philly cousin asked. "Yep", I replied nonchalantly.  "I remember reading something about hot tamales being a big thing here in the Delta."   We kept driving and finally decided we would have to try these famous Mississippi Delta hot tamales. Now to decide which one.  There were literally dozens of tamale spots.  We happened upon a restaurant called Sho-Nuff and decided it was the one. We parked and entered the large, delightfully decorated restaurant.  The wall was plastered with local and national awards in recognition of those hot tamales.   There was a sign touting Sho-Nuff as the winner of the local newspaper's favorite restaurant award and 3rd place winner in the annual  Delta Hot Ta
