A Visit to Madame Tussauds in Orlando

Disclosure:  I received a pair of complimentary passes in a blog conference swag bag.
Earlier this Summer I attended a social media conference in Orlando.  The host hotel offered passes to the Orlando Eye.  FREE passes?  Count me in.
Orlando Eye

As luck would have it the first day we went to the Orlando Eye, it was out of commission for the afternoon and we were told to come back the following day.
Once again, no Orlando Eye for us but we did pose for a pic
The manager recognized us from our earlier visit and offered tix to any of the other indoor attractions.  We looked around and decided to visit Madame Tussauds.

We have visited Madame Tussauds museums in other cities and it's always fun to mix and mingle with "celebrities" and notable figures.

Now this being Orlando and all, it wouldn't be complete without something dedicated to the great Walt Disney.
Vargas and Walt just chillin'
Just a few steps from Walt Disney stood a Albert Einstein.  KMc couldn't resist discussing STEM with the famed scientist.
KMc and Einstein discussing STEM
The museum takes great care in their efforts to capture the celebrity model. From the clothes to the hairs/wigs and even props for some fun photos. Each figure is precisely the same height with notable characteristics as the person it's modeled after.

J stood next to this lifelike statue of Obama and we realized he's not quite 6' tall - Obama is 6'1".
Just an inch or two shorter than President Obama
Walking through the museum was like being transported in time...

From man's landing on the moon...
Look ma, KMc's on tv...
Madame Tussaud's museums are an excellent way to get kids interested in history.  Each figure features a plaque detailing who the person is and some of their notable accomplishments.

Tussaud was a noted wax sculptor and one of her first works was a wax sculpture of Voltaire... yes THAT famous philosopher.

There are 24 Madame Tussaud museums throughout the world including locations in Vegas, Hollywood, D.C. and Beijing to name a few.  Each location featuring it's own unique notables from history, science, sports, music and movies, like Shrek.
Quiet on the set, we're working here.
We had a blast at Madame Tussaud's Museum in Orlando.
We danced with M.J.
    Kicked it with Pitbull
       Shot hoops with Shaq
         Interviewed passersby with Oprah
Even copped a squat on the couch of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon
Finally, it was time to head home and we couldn't think of a better co-pilot than E.T.
Next time you're in Orlando, be sure to check out the Orlando Eye and if it's not working or the line is too long, walk a few steps across the way to Madame Tussauds Museum.

Madame Tussauds Museum Orlando is located at 8401 International Drive in Orlando, Florida.

There is a WAX museum down the street from where I live but I will never go because it's just WAY too crowded! haha! So thank you for the pics and the insight as to what I might be missing!

We've been to Orlando several times, but only went for Disney World. We really need to go back and check out the other places, like this one!

Wow. What an awesome museum. I would love to visit and take a gazillion photos! Madam Tussaud was one talented lady to be able to do life-like wax figures of famous people. Thanks for sharing your photos. I liked the one riding with E.T. the best.

Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop

Spring is in full swing.  The birds are singin'.  The pollen is falling and temps are FINALLY warming up.  So what better time time to start planning our Summer getaways. This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three Boys and an Old Lady blog reader will r
