5 Tips to Choosing a Wig

This is a sponsored post.  All opinions are mine.
If you asked me about a wig a few years ago, my response would have been "OMG, I'd never wear a wig.  They're too hot."  Nowadays, wigs are my goto fashion accessory.  Wigs are a great way to switch up your hairstyle with minimal effort.

Whether it's human hair, synthetic hair, lace front wigs, half wigs, short or long, there is a wig to fit your style.

With so many selections to choose from finding a wig can be daunting but here are a few tips to help making wig buying a little easier.

1.  Purpose. Decide what look you're going for. Are you going to work or releasing your inner Bey?  Wigs are perfect for those transitioning from relaxed to natural hair or those undergoing chemo or persons with alopecia or thinning hair.

2.  Color.  Are you trying to match your current hair color or trying something totally new?  Either way a wig is a great way to try a new hair color without making a hair color commitment.  I remember once I colored my hair and the color was too dark.  I had to wait nearly 3 months for the color to fade.  I never colored my hair again.  Oh the things we learn from Kitchen Chemistry.

Notice the subtleties between these 3 colors of the same wig in Black Cherry, Black and Natural.
Each has it own distinct color and texture.  So it's always a good idea to look at a variety of colors to find the color that's best for you.

3.  Length.  Are you Team Long Hair Don't Care or Short and Carefree?  Wigs come in various lengths, find a length to meet your style and rock it.  If your locks are long, don't worry you can still rock a short look without cutting your hair.  A wig cap is an easy way to tuck your tresses under your wig.

I love this mid length lace front wig. Lace front wigs are the preferred wigs of several celebrities and it's easy to see why. Lace front wigs have a tiny lace panel which looks really natural when worn properly.

4. Type.  If you don't mind styling your wig frequently, human hair wigs may be more your style.  Human hair wigs can withstand daily styling with curling irons, flat irons and blow dryers.  However, if you prefer to just grab and go, you may want to consider a synthetic wig.  Synthetic wigs maintain their style a little longer and are less expensive than human hair wigs.

5. Be Adventurous.  Instead of buying just one wig, consider buying 2 or more.  You can find affordable wigs at beauty stores worldwide or online at retailers like BlackHairspray.com.

I never wear wigs unless I'm dressing up in a costume for Trunk or Treat. It's never crossed my mind to wear a wig. Some of my friends wear them and they look awesome. Maybe I should try one.

I have very curly hair and it's hard stuffing it all into a wig. But I do love wearing them and pull one out every year for Comic Con and Halloween.

This is not my thing because I simply do so little with my hair and don't care that it's always the same, but it's interesting to read about the different things to consider and I'm sure it's helpful for many.

This is definitely great advice. There really is a lot more to consider than what people realize. It HAS to look natural.

Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop

Spring is in full swing.  The birds are singin'.  The pollen is falling and temps are FINALLY warming up.  So what better time time to start planning our Summer getaways. This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three ...
