5 Tasty Cocktails that Won't Ruin Your Weight Loss Goals #NSNation #ad

This is a sponsored post
Hubby and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary last week and celebrated by going to dinner with friends.

Choosing entrees was a breeze.  Most restaurant menus have a special page featuring healthier entree options and you can always request your meal be prepared a special way.
Typically we opt for water when eating out but tonight was a special occasion and we wanted to indulge in some festive libations.  We limited ourselves to ONE drink and plenty of water.  Hydration! Hydration!! Hydration!!!

I'm almost at my goal weight and there's no way I'm going to let one celebration knock me off track.  I just have to learn to make better choices.  That's one of the main reasons Nutrisystem is working for me.  If you have been following my weight loss journey you know I am a Nutrisystem Blogger and have been provided the program in exchange for posting about my experiences.

Nutrisystem IS working for me.  I am LEARNING to make better choices so I stay on track with my weight loss goals.

Hubby and I had a blast celebrating our anniversary with family and friends by indulging in a delicious dinner.

I opted for the Cedar Plank Salmon with Rutabaga Mash and when it arrived I noticed the asparagus spears were heavily covered in oil so I asked our server if I could have a side of steamed asparagus and he obliged.  My dinner was absolutely delicious.

Our friends wanted to offer a toast to celebrate the occasion.  Everyone knows I'm on Nutrisystem and was eager to see what alcoholic beverage I would choose.

Alcohol can be a diet blunder.  Most alcoholic beverages are high in sugar, high in empty calories and full of empty calories.  I did my homework and found some healthier libations and compiled a list of 5 tasty cocktails using vodka, rum, gin, tequila or champagne.  Enjoy!

Vodka Soda:  Vodka + club soda and less than 100 calories
Vodka Soda are easy to mix and a classic cocktail for those seeking a low cal option.

Mojito: Create a simple syrup using Stevia instead of sugar.

Mule:  Vodka and Ginger Beer are the starters to this classic beverage.

French 75 is a classic and one of my faves.  My dear friend CC introduced me to her beloved French 75 a few years ago and it has become my celebratory indulgence.  Champagne, gin, simple syrup and lemon juice.  It's a fun beverage because of the champagne bubbles and using Stevia instead of sugar for the simple syrup makes this an indulgent lo-cal cocktail.

Paloma is simple 3:1 mix of grapefruit juice and tequila.  Don't skimp on the tequila.  Opt for a high end tequila and use club soda instead of sugary grapefruit soda.

What are some of your favorite cocktails?

I love the idea of using Stevia instead of sugar! Dining out can be a challenge when trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Good for you for sending the asparagus back and having it steamed instead of soaking in oil.

I don't drink very often, but I'll keep this in mind for when I do. I'm pretty sure I'd love that French 75.

OK this makes me extremely excited! I know that drinks are usually full of carbs and fat and all sorts of stuff you don't want. So I'm excited to try these because I am trying to watch what I eat and drink.

It is so hard to stay healthy when you are dining out. I have to admit that my beverages are the biggest part of my not eating healthier. I love that you gave me some options the next time I am at dinner.

I never knew you could use Stevia to make a simple syrup. I love that idea and can see using it in so many things. Happy Anniversary.

These are clever little ways to stay on track. I'll have to try making some drinks and swapping in stevia and club soda.

Wow happy anniversary! What a milestone :) And thanks for this. I like to have a glass of wine or a cocktail once in a while even though I know it sets me back a few (or more??) calories. Now I have a list to turn to!
Happy Anniversary to you! Wishing you more and more years of wedded bliss. Thank you too for sharing these cocktail recipes. I am diabetic and I only use Stevia as a sweetener. I can now make cocktails and not worry about having sugar spikes.

Congrats on your weight loss so far! It can be hard to stay on track while still enjoying yourself, so these low cal alcohol options are good to know.
You've made nice progress! These drinks are all great for folks that are calorie conscious, I must admit that most of my favorite drinks are all much sweeter.

These cocktails hold the promise of a heady experience. The nice thing is that they also do not add much in terms of calories and so can be enjoyed guilt free.

I will pass the list of cocktails on to my mom, I think she would like them ; )

Stevia saves everyone nowadays. Using that instead of sugar is simple and a really great alternative.

I am hands down a champagne girl. I try to stay away from mixed drinks because they contain so much sugar...a vodka with fresh lime juice is pretty delicious, too!

Low cal cocktails are a great idea! I rarely think about the calorie count actually and I really should. These are good ideas. Thanks. I will save them.

Maple and Brown Sugar Air Fryer Bacon

I've been raving about my Instant Pot but now I have a new favorite... the Air Fryer.   O M G This thing is amazing!  I don't know why I was so late to the Air Fryer craze but I am so glad I am finally onboard.   I've been talking about getting one and then after my aunt posted pics of her new air fryer, that was it off to Best Buy I went.   I wasn't sure how big of a unit I would need but I figured the 2.5 liter would suffice.  I chose the Chefman Express.  It was priced on the shelves for $85 but online for $75.99 and my local store matched the price AND I had my Swagbucks Best Buy QR code so I got 500 SBs + 2 SBs for every dollar spent so that's another 170 SBs.  So, after discounts, my air fryer ended up costing me less than the sale price.  Woohoo! There were some fancy ones on the shelves with digital display but after checking the reviews I figured since I don't fry much this model would suffice. When I think of fried foods, I think

A Pit Stop at Sho Nuff Hot Tamales in Greenville, Mississippi

My cousin and I were driving along and our tummies were rumbling as we crossed the Mississippi state line on US-82.  We didn't really have any particular dish in mind for lunch but we started seeing signs saying "Hot Tamales". "Hot Tamales", my Philly cousin asked. "Yep", I replied nonchalantly.  "I remember reading something about hot tamales being a big thing here in the Delta."   We kept driving and finally decided we would have to try these famous Mississippi Delta hot tamales. Now to decide which one.  There were literally dozens of tamale spots.  We happened upon a restaurant called Sho-Nuff and decided it was the one. We parked and entered the large, delightfully decorated restaurant.  The wall was plastered with local and national awards in recognition of those hot tamales.   There was a sign touting Sho-Nuff as the winner of the local newspaper's favorite restaurant award and 3rd place winner in the annual  Delta Hot Ta
