Hitting the road for Eclipse 2017?
I was watching the news last night and saw droves of vehicles heading to the great beyond for the upcoming eclipse.
As the Princess of the Road Trip Experience I wanted to share a few tips to help you enjoy your 2017 Eclipse Road Trip experience.

Here are my 10 tried and true tips to help you and your family as you hit the highways and bi-ways for your Eclipse 2017 Road Trip.

10.  Check Fluids.  Make sure you have a full tank before you leave and that your car is serviced.  Check your vehicle fluids and tire pressure before hitting the road.  There are reports of gas stations running out of gas in many spots along the Path of Totality.  Be prepared.

9.  Pack Snacks.  It's always good to pack snacks when traveling.  Avoid sugary snacks and opt for fresh fruits, snack bars, nuts, and snacks.  I pack granola bars for the kids and my favorite Nutrisystem snacks for myself. I ordered the Nutrichocolates, White Chocolate Chunk Cookies, Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies and Chocolate Sandwich Cookies and these are perfect for staying on the plan while road tripping.

8.  Safely Take pictures.  Snap pics early. Once the eclipse starts you may be tempted to take pics but it's probably not the best idea.  Most cameras aren't equipped for this and you could damage your camera or cell phone.
7.  Pack Water.  We place bottles of water in every cup holder in our vehicle:  driver and passenger side doors, drink holders in front, middle and 3rd rows.  We also load the cooler with frozen bottled water to help keep food cold.  Water has ZERO calories and is a much healthier choice than sugary fruit juices, energy drinks, colas or sodas. Stay on track in your weight loss journey by staying hydrated. Remember, it may look dark but it's STILL Summer.
6.  Use Your Headlights.  Let's review the entire premise of an eclipse.  Moon covers sun = total darkness.  Turn on your headlights.  Even if your car has daytime running lights.  Turn on your headlights as if you were driving at nighttime.
5.  Do Not Park on the Highway. Don't pull over to side of road unless it's an emergency. If you have to pull over, be sure to exit the highway.
4.  Buy a Paper Map.  AAA recommends having a paper map on hand just in case.  Most of the places in the Path of Totality are small towns and cell phone service may not be the best.
3.  Apply Sunscreen. It may look like nighttime but it's STILL daytime and the UV rays from the sun can and will burn unprotected skin.
2.  Be patient.  This is a once in a lifetime event for many and hundreds of thousands are on the road.
and the #1 tip for safely enjoying your 2017 Eclipse Road Trip is...  drumroll please.
Protect Your Eyes.  Be sure to view the eclipse safely with eyewear that is ISO 12312-2 international safety standard or any of the other safe techniques shared by NASA.  You can google "View the Eclipse" for safe ways to view the eclipse.
Are you hitting the road for Eclipse 2017? What are some of your fave road trip snacks?

Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop

Spring is in full swing.  The birds are singin'.  The pollen is falling and temps are FINALLY warming up.  So what better time time to start planning our Summer getaways. This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three ...

12 Delicious Thanksgiving Leftover Ideas They're Sure to Gobble Up

I never understood why we prepare this humongous Thanksgiving dinner and complain about having so many leftovers. We manage to get rid of a lot of leftovers by making sure everyone has a to go plate and delivering dinners to elderly and homebound family, church members and friends.  Yet, there is always a lot of stuff left. After the last guest has left and after I’ve put away the last load of dishes in the dishwasher, it’s time to break out the freezer bags and storage containers and fill up the fridge with all the leftovers.  Here are 12 of our favorite ways to gobble up Turkey Day leftovers and a chance to win a $25 Walmart eGiftcard.   1.       Thanksgiving Casserole         2.       Turkey Roll Ups         3.       Turkey Club Sandwiches         4.       Thanksgiving Pizza  ...
