Mandisa Shines in Out of the Dark

MANDISA is back with a NEW CD “OUT OF THE DARK”.

Mandisa wrote her song “Overcomer” in 2013 to encourage her close friend Kisha, who was battling breast cancer. Mandisa really believed and prayed that God was going to heal her, but when Kisha went to be with Jesus in 2014, Mandisa’s foundation was shaken in a way she never expected.

Faith is an amazing thing.  Mandisa's faith was tested in the loss of her friend. We see so many advances made in breast cancer research that we often forget this dreaded disease continues to claim lives every single day.  A few years ago, I met a dynamic breast cancer survivor at a blogger conference.  She was the youngest person I'd ever met with the disease. She got breast cancer in her 20s and her cancer returned in her 30s.

She fell into a deep pit of depression for close to 3 years, shutting out her friends, family and the rest of the world.  I can imagine the pain losing her friend caused.   Mandisa believes if she had kept going down that road she was on, she would not be here today… but God stepped in and lifted her out of that pit by using her close friends to communicate their love for her and God’s love for her.

This album is Mandisa’s way of letting her fans into her story – it’s called 'Out Of The Dark' because that is exactly where God lifted her out of!

You can watch her talk openly about this on Good Morning America last week here: http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/mandisa-opens-overcoming-depression-47020463

The 15 track CD features guest appearances by Kirk Franklin, TobyMac, Britt Nicole and Jeremy Camp, but Mandisa clearly shines.  What You're Worth is one of my favorite tracks.  An empowering message with a catchy pop undertone. Another fave is the tune Good News. This song is evident Mandisa was breaking through her depression.  I find myself singing it.  Hey, it's a catchy tune.

Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop

Spring is in full swing.  The birds are singin'.  The pollen is falling and temps are FINALLY warming up.  So what better time time to start planning our Summer getaways. This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three ...
