Bedtime for Baby Book Reviews: Sammy's Broken Leg (Oh No!) and the Amazing Cast that Fixed It

Today is Tell a Story Day and what better day to share a great read with your kiddos.

A few weeks ago, I received a copy of Sammy's Broken Leg (Oh No!) and the Amazing Cast that Fixed It from Cadence Book group. This heartwarming story tells the true story of how a cast helped a little girl who broke her femur bone learn patience.

Sammy's Broken Leg (Oh No!) and the Amazing Cast that Fixed It was written by the child's grandmother, Judith Wolf Mandell, and is a reminder of the challenges, power and strength of our little ones.

Last month I shared how my son broke his ankle in a wrestling match and was in a cast for a few weeks and I remember how out of place he felt not being able to get around.  I just can't imagine how difficult it would be for a little one to be in a cast for several weeks while their body healed.  However, there is so much encouragement in Mandell's shares her granddaughter's story of triumph and healing.

Meet Sammy: An hour ago she was fine. Then an "Oh, No!" fall broke her thigh bone. Hours later she woke to find herself in a purple fiberglass cast from her chest to her ankle. It's the same kind of cast used to treat children whose hips didn't grow right (hip dysplasia).

Sammy's life has turned topsy-turvy. She's sidelined from her favorite play, cast care is a bother, the days drag on. She becomes sad, angry, frustrated.

Meet the Amazing Cast: It looks like an ordinary huge purple cast, but it's not. It's amazing because it's brimful of kisses who cheer for Sammy and coach her to be patient. The Kisses are Sammy's secret; only she can hear their whispers.

ONE KISS FOR A BOO-BOO. A BAZILLION KISSES FOR A CAST!

Overall a cute read especially for little ones on the mend.  I really loved the part with a scroll of the doctor's rules while in the cast.  You know, don't get the cast wet, don't do this, don't do that, etc.  Unfortunately, it was one we could relate to due to my kid's injury.

Buy It:  Sammy's Broken Leg (Oh No!) and the Amazing Cast that Fixed It is available at bookstores nationwide and Amazon.

Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop

Spring is in full swing.  The birds are singin'.  The pollen is falling and temps are FINALLY warming up.  So what better time time to start planning our Summer getaways. This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three ...
