5 Inspirational Reads to Jumpstart Your New Year

Happy New Year!

Looking for a way to keep the momentum of hope for the New Year? Check out these fab 5 reads from some of the most inspirational speakers in the world. Each of these books is a sure to motivate and inspire you throughout 2017.

For several years now, I’ve partnered with FaithWords, a division of Hatchette Book Group, and have the opportunity to review some of the most inspirational books ever written. In exchange for a book, I share my thoughts via my blog and social media channels. Being the avid reader that I am, this partnership is a great way to keep my spirit lifted and share encouragement with others throughout the year.

I glanced over my book collection and found a few of my fave inspirational reads I'm sure will jumpstart your 2017.

First, let's begin with Seize the Day by Joyce Meyer. This fab read was released in Fall 2016 and is one of my most inspirational reads. Through scripture and personal stories, Meyer reminds readers to spend time with God every single day to unlock blessings and achieve an overflow in our lives. Meyer has a snark and I love it.  Reading Seize the Day is like having coffee with that one friend who tells it like it really is.  No holds barred.  Meyer has penned over 14 New York Times bestselling books and her television audience and social media following continues to grow as she shares the Word.

LIVE LOVE LEAD by Brian Houston. Houston is founder and senior pastor of Hillsong Church. Yes, that Hillsong Church. Houston masters leadership and LIVE LOVE LEAD is a toolkit for those looking to master leadership skills for worship, work and life.  Life is full of turns and twists and in this book, Houston helps readers navigate the complexities each day brings.

Wake Up to the Word by Joyce Meyer. I keep a devotional at my bedside and at my desk. There’s something about a focused daily scripture that grounds me during the workday. I often find myself glancing at the scripture throughout the day and funny how it always seems apropos. There are many devotionals out there. I prefer a daily 365 devotional and it doesn’t matter if it’s a book or a calendar format, just as long as it has a daily scripture for me to reflect on. Wake Up to the Word is a great devotional by one of my favorite authors and an inspirational word for every single day of the year.

Attend by Laura Davis Werezak. There’s a song that says “Just a closer walk with thee… Daily walking close to thee…” In Attend, the author shares exercises as a daily walk to draw readers closer in their relationship with our Heavenly Father. Nothing complicated, simple actions and reflective moments, a reminder of the things many of us take for granted. We often overlook blessings of each day focusing more on the challenges the day holds. Werezak shows readers how to disconnect to reconnect.

The Bible. Each year I read the Bible from cover to cover. It’s something my mom used to do when I was a kid and an annual habit I picked up from her. Funny, even though we know the stories and we have read the “book” several times, we always discover something new. The Bible is truly one of the most inspirational reads ever full of tales of faith, hope, courage and strength. There are countless translations and you are sure to find one which speaks to you.

What books keep you motivated throughout the year?

Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop

Spring is in full swing.  The birds are singin'.  The pollen is falling and temps are FINALLY warming up.  So what better time time to start planning our Summer getaways. This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three ...
