4 Tips to Ward Off Mosquitoes

Are you ready for Summer?

Is your city on the Orkin Top 10 list of Mosquito Cities?

Well, if you live in Atlanta, Chicago or D.C. I've got news for you, your city ranks among the top 3.  Oh there are a couple of newbies to the list so be sure to click on the Mosquito Cities Is Yours on the List logo below to check it out.

Surprisingly, my little ol' city isn't on the list but judging by the mild winter and frequent rains as of late, I've got a feeling we are in for one heckuva mosquito season.  Mosquitoes are pesky little creatures and with all the hype over the Zika Virus I wanted to offer a few reminders of how to keep mosquitoes at bay and protect your loved ones.

1. Remove Standing Water
Puddles of rain are mosquito havens so if your gutters, plant pots and other rain catchers are gathering water, empty them immediately.  It only takes a couple of inches of standing water to create the ideal habitat for a mosquito nursery

2. Close Gaps in Windows, Screens and Doors
Repair broken windows, screens and doors to reduce mosquito entry points.

3. Protect Yourself and Your Family
Protect yourself and your family using mosquito repellent.  There are a variety of mosquito repellents available and a couple of natural alternatives as well.  Try decorative citronella candles outside or soak cotton balls with essential oils such as lavender or peppermint and tuck inside your pockets to ward off pesky mosquitoes.

4. Treat Backyards and Other Outside Areas
Contact Orkin or visit their website to discover the latest technology and unparalleled training to develop an effective treatment that's right for your needs. To learn more about pest control based in science or to schedule an inspection, visit orkin.com or call 1-800-800-ORKIN.

I prefer using natural remedies to get rid of mosquitoes and other little insects like fruit flies or sand flies. Herbal and citrus sprays are good repellant. Some essential oils can scare them off too.

Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop

Spring is in full swing.  The birds are singin'.  The pollen is falling and temps are FINALLY warming up.  So what better time time to start planning our Summer getaways. This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three ...
