Our Thoughts:
Vibrant pictures
Tear out fact cards
Easy to read

This is a just about everything I love about the Smithsonian Institution in book form.  Absolutely amazing book series.  The books are perfect for new readers as they contain short, easy to read sentences and perfect for introducing new topics with the handy glossary and short quizzes following each chapter.  Each of us moms and all of our kids RAVED about this book series.  The series is a favorite among every single one of our reviewers and everyone had nothing but great things to say about each of the four books we reviewed.

We struggled for something to dislike about this book series and found absolutely nothing, nathan, jack, diddly squat, nada.  As much as I wanted to dislike the tear out fact cards.  I mean perish the thought of tearing a page in a book.  Clutch the pearls.  I couldn't help but love these cards.  They were meant to be ripped out of the book and enjoyed.  We checked in on the kids after reading and they were still playing with the cards.  Some "Smif-sonian" game they invented.  These books are beyond amazing!  If you have a child between the ages of 2-12, Smithsonian Readers is a must have.  Seriously, I can't wait to share them with the LIttle Old Lady's and the Littlest Ones preschool teachers as I'm sure they'll find them to be great learning tools for those inquisitive little minds in the their classrooms.

Now for the formalities.  Here's the details on this fab book series.  Be sure to visit Silver Dolphin Books at www.SilverDolphinBooks.com for more details and to purchase these fab reads for your new readers.

Smithsonian Readers: Early Adventures Level 1(ages 4 and up) lays the groundwork with simple sentence structure and familiar content, divided into six 32-page topics: Vehicles, Reptiles, Outer Space, Animal Habitats, Insects, and Safari Animals. Full-color photographs highlight concepts in the text, while multiple-choice quizzes emphasize comprehension. A glossary of terms and 36 illustrated fact cards inspire further exploration of young readers’ favorite subjects.

Smithsonian Readers: Seriously Amazing Level 2 (ages 5 and up) builds on the skills developed by the Level 1 reader by introducing varied sentence patterns and more advanced vocabulary, such as contractions, possessives, compound sentences, and three-syllable words. Children can also explore new areas of interest with sections on Nighttime Animals, Sea Life, Dinosaurs, the Solar System, Baby Animals, and the Human Body.

Smithsonian Readers: World of Wonder Level 3 (ages 5 and up) engages burgeoning readers with more detailed content about the world around them: Ancient Egypt, Wild Weather, Rain Forest Animals, the United States, the Planet, and Sharks. The Level 3 reader features additional resources to underline concepts and teach new skills, such as maps, diagrams, and illustrations, as well as more complex spelling patterns and longer sentences.

Smithsonian Readers: Endless Explorations Level 4 (ages 6 and up) combines the knowledge of the first three levels, urging children to apply their newfound skills with subjects designed to challenge them: Predators, Space Exploration, Natural Disasters, World Wonders, Ocean Habitats, and Flight. Fewer photographs encourage readers to focus on the text for information, while pronunciation guides familiarize them with the more complex vocabulary.

Each title in the Smithsonian Readers series features six 32-page sections on high-interest topics, colorful illustrations, multiple-choice quizzes, a glossary, and 36 removable fact cards for additional, on-the-go learning, making these leveled readers the perfect gift for beginning or reluctant readers who are fascinated by history, science, and the world around them.

I haven't been this thrilled with a children's book series in a long time but this is a series sure to engage children and encourage exploration and conversation.

Maple and Brown Sugar Air Fryer Bacon

I've been raving about my Instant Pot but now I have a new favorite... the Air Fryer.   O M G This thing is amazing!  I don't know why I was so late to the Air Fryer craze but I am so glad I am finally onboard.   I've been talking about getting one and then after my aunt posted pics of her new air fryer, that was it off to Best Buy I went.   I wasn't sure how big of a unit I would need but I figured the 2.5 liter would suffice.  I chose the Chefman Express.  It was priced on the shelves for $85 but online for $75.99 and my local store matched the price AND I had my Swagbucks Best Buy QR code so I got 500 SBs + 2 SBs for every dollar spent so that's another 170 SBs.  So, after discounts, my air fryer ended up costing me less than the sale price.  Woohoo! There were some fancy ones on the shelves with digital display but after checking the reviews I figured since I don't fry much this model would suffice. When I think of fried foods, I think

A Pit Stop at Sho Nuff Hot Tamales in Greenville, Mississippi

My cousin and I were driving along and our tummies were rumbling as we crossed the Mississippi state line on US-82.  We didn't really have any particular dish in mind for lunch but we started seeing signs saying "Hot Tamales". "Hot Tamales", my Philly cousin asked. "Yep", I replied nonchalantly.  "I remember reading something about hot tamales being a big thing here in the Delta."   We kept driving and finally decided we would have to try these famous Mississippi Delta hot tamales. Now to decide which one.  There were literally dozens of tamale spots.  We happened upon a restaurant called Sho-Nuff and decided it was the one. We parked and entered the large, delightfully decorated restaurant.  The wall was plastered with local and national awards in recognition of those hot tamales.   There was a sign touting Sho-Nuff as the winner of the local newspaper's favorite restaurant award and 3rd place winner in the annual  Delta Hot Ta
