Interview with the Author: Ali B on The Sixteen

During the Summer Los Tres Amigos read The Sixteen, the latest addition to author Ali B's Soul Jumper book series.

Click here to check out our review of this fab middle school read and keep reading to view my interview with author Ali B.

The Interview:

Was the middle school always your intended audience?
The Soul Jumpers series is a great bridge from chapter books to young adult. I’ve always loved middle grades fiction, and I knew Iris would make a great MGF character. Books for this age group have just enough mystery, angst, independence, and a little bit of spookiness to appeal to the tween audience. My series challenges young readers and makes them think without overwhelming them with mature themes.

Who is your favorite author?
I’m going to have to break that down by genre.

  • Adult Fiction – Barbara Kingsolver
  • Young Adult – Rainbow Rowell
  • Middle Grades – Gary Schmidt
  • Picture Book – Dr. Seuss

What are you reading?
I am currently reading The Daughters of Mars by Thomas Keneally. To my primary class I am reading The Littles by John Peterson.

What can we expect next from Ali B.?
I am working on the third installment of the Soul Jumpers series. I’m also very interested in trying my hand at a picture book. Something humorous with clever illustrations.

What's next for Iris?
So much. Iris will travel, protect, conquer evil, and discover herself, her skills, and the power of being a soul jumper.

Be sure to check out Ali B's website:  http://alibbooks.com/ for more info on the Soul Jumper series and find her books on Amazon.

Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop

Spring is in full swing.  The birds are singin'.  The pollen is falling and temps are FINALLY warming up.  So what better time time to start planning our Summer getaways. This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three ...
