Our Thoughts:  I loved the introduction by Kevin Sorbo as it offered tips on how to use the book.  Use?  Yes, use as in kids, teachers and parents.  Kids can use the stories to empower themselves and other kids.  Teachers and parents can use the stories to facilitate discussion with kids about self esteem and making good decisions.

There are stories about bullying, positive thinking and just doing the right thing.  One of my favorite stories was the very first one.  It's titled "Chair Challenges".  The story tells of a seventh grader who like many other middle school  kids was uncertain, lacked confidence, shy but this kid set a goal...and achieved it.

The story was my favorite because my kids are in band and I know despite the words of encouragement from Hubby and I, the ultimate decision of when to challenge for that chair was when my children said they were ready.  They had to practice.  Hubby and I couldn't practice for them.   I mean we could tell them when to practice, but our kids were the ones who had to put in the work.  When the announcement came that they met their goal and gained first chair we were so proud as we knew all the hard work they'd put in.

This is just one of the great stories in this installment of Chicken Soup for the Soul.

Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop

Spring is in full swing.  The birds are singin'.  The pollen is falling and temps are FINALLY warming up.  So what better time time to start planning our Summer getaways. This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three Boys and an Old Lady blog reader will r
