V.C. Andrews Continues to Wow Even 35 Years After Her Death

A love of reading is something I can truly say I inherited from my mom. I can remember sneaking away to read her V.C. Andrews' novels. Of course I was hooked on V.C. Andrews the moment I read Flowers in the Attic and my love of her writings has blossomed ever since.

Author V.C. Andrews passed away in the late 1980's.  However, her estate continues to publish books every year since Andrews' untimely passing. My Sweet Audrina was first published in the early '80s so it was quite surprising to see Simon and Schuster announce the publication of a sequel some 35+ years later.

Lifetime has brought several of Andrews' novels to television but it's the books that draw me in andI can't wait to share this fab read with my fellow V.C. Andrews book lover, aka, my mom.

Synopsis:
The long-awaited sequel to My Sweet Audrina, one of V.C. Andrews’s strangest, most beloved books—and now a Lifetime movie! Whitefern swallowed Audrina’s childhood—and now the sprawling Victorian mansion threatens her adult life too...

Audrina remembers a better time, when her husband, Arden, was a young man with a heart filled with devotion for her. He didn’t used to be this ambitious, expansive...this cruel. But then, the death of Audrina’s father changed a great many things.

When the reading of her father’s will reveals that Audrina herself will control fifty-one percent of the family brokerage—the halls of Whitefern again don’t feel safe. Arden’s protestations become frantic, nearly violent. And while Audrina didn’t anticipate running the family business, she’s curious to do so. And she can’t help but wonder what had made her father change his will at the last minute? What did he know about Arden that she didn’t?

Trapped in the middle of it all: her fragile, simple sister—the beautiful, trusting Sylvia. Audrina promised her father she’d watch over the young woman. But after years of relative quiet, the dark days of Whitefern may have returned...

Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop

Spring is in full swing.  The birds are singin'.  The pollen is falling and temps are FINALLY warming up.  So what better time time to start planning our Summer getaways. This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three ...

I never understood why we prepare this humongous Thanksgiving dinner and complain about having so many leftovers. We manage to get rid of a lot of leftovers by making sure everyone has a to go plate and delivering dinners to elderly and homebound family, church members and friends.  Yet, there is always a lot of stuff left.
