Getting Things in Order with Smead Folders - A Shoplet Review

Buried deep in my closet is a folder I've kept for over a decade.  The folder contains every single thing related to my pregnancy of my twin sons.  You'd think this folder would be tattered and torn given it's over 10 years old BUT it's actually in pretty good condition... or at least that's the story I tell myself year after year.

The folder was given to me at my very first prenatal appointment.  Those who know me know Hubby and I struggled with infertility for several years.  The folder symbolizes the end of that struggle and the beginning of the blessing of life.

I have often thought of transferring the contents into another folder and throwing away the folder but the reality is the folder means a lot to me.  Yes, it's just a folder but it's my folder.  It's full of things that are important to me.  A few days ago, I received a package full of Smead organizational folders.  The package included SuperTab Erasable Manila Folders, FasTab Hanging Erasable Folders, Vertical File Folders, a Step Index Organizer, an eraser and a Sharpie.

The SuperTab Erasable Manila Folders were ideal for organizing all Hubby's papers.  I was able to categorize his files and when he needs to change the tab, I can do it with one quick swipe of an eraser.  The SuperTab Erasable Manila Folders fit perfectly into the FasTab Hanging Erasable Folders.

The wide labeling space means no more teency weency writing.  I could fit SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS on these labels.

The Smead Vertical File Folder is a pretty unique folding system.  I gave each of the kids a couple of these to use as homework folders.  The vertical file folders feature closed sides and fit perfectly into the kids' backpacks and means homework won't slip out the folder when my kids remove the folder from their backpacks.  WE LOVE THESE and will definitely add Smead Veritical File Folders to our Back to School Shopping lists.

Now back to the folder story I was sharing earlier.  I've had this folder for over a decade and it's basically chronicles the day I found out I was pregnant to the birth of my twin sons.  There are few words to express the sentimental value of those worn pieces of paper contained within that tattered folder.  The Step Index Organizer has 12 big pockets and room enough to house all my treasured papers.

So I went from this...

to this...

to this...

and finally this.

Going through those old papers was a task I put off for so many years.  It's amazing those papers held up as well as they did in that old folder.  Since the folder has 12 pockets, it'd be perfect for storing school treasures (one for each month or one for grades 1-12).  Look out Organized Me, I think I'm on a roll.

Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop

Spring is in full swing.  The birds are singin'.  The pollen is falling and temps are FINALLY warming up.  So what better time time to start planning our Summer getaways. This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three ...
