Book Review: What Child Is This by Phillip Crutchfield

It's rare I get a request from someone I know asking me to review their book.  As a writer myself, I enjoy the opportunity to share my thoughts.  When author Phillip Crutchfield sent me an email asking me to review his book "What Child Is This?", I couldn't say "no".  Phillip is a great guy and I was eager to see how someone so busy with family, church and community found time to write.

My Thoughts:  The story of the birth of Jesus is a story we've heard so many times.  What Child Is This? shares the beloved hymn in a story format told from the rather unique perspective of some farm animals.  One of which claims to be the great-great-great-great grand lamb of one of the lambs who lived in the Garden of Eden and a donkey claiming to be the son of the Joseph and Mary.  Using scripture passages from the old and new testaments, the animals recount the night of Jesus' birth.

The whimsical illustrations of this easy to read book are sure to delight preschool and elementary age readers.  What Child Is This? would make a wonderful addition to your Sunday School library.

Buy It:   What Child Is This? by Phillip Crutchfield is available online at Amazon or Barnes and Noble for your Kindle, Nook or in softcover.

Disclosure:  I received an electronic copy of this book in return for this review.

Life is a Beach Giveaway Hop

Spring is in full swing.  The birds are singin'.  The pollen is falling and temps are FINALLY warming up.  So what better time time to start planning our Summer getaways. This year - as always - we are beach bound.  It's one of our fave places to visit given we only get to the beach once or twice a year.   Last year's visit to Cozumel was one for the record books. We stopped by this little restaurant and dined on grilled shrimp in a cabana right on the beach.   'Ohana also has a line of tequilas in flavors I had never seen before.  Tropical flavors such as coconut, mango and pina colada.  Hubby and I tried the 'Ohana peanut butter tequila.  The owner said folks either love it or hate it... we LOVED it!!! As I was sipping all I could think of was how good this peanut butter tequila would taste as a baste on my tequila wings.  It would be like a tequila satay wings type dish. * * * G I V E A W A Y * * * One lucky Three ...
