Novica Review and Giveaway

Last year a friend of mine gifted me with a pair of earrings she purchased while on vacation in Antigua.  The earrings, she says, were designed by a young mother who told her how she earned enough money to support her family from selling her wares.  My friend and I have a knack for purchasing unique gifts for each other whenever we travel.  She knows I love earrings and I know she loves elephants so whenever she see a pair of earrings she always picks them up for me and whenever I see elephant-themed  knickknacks, I pick them up for her.  

I haven't had the luxury of visiting Antigua but I always manage to find a unique gift for her without leaving  my laptop.  Granted I had to confess a few months ago when she asked where I found a ring she loved.  So I had to share that many of my fab finds have come from Novica. 

Novica offers items from artisans and craftsmen from all over the world.  Whether it's Bali, Central America, West Africa or so many other countries, you're sure to find something unique in every sense of the word.  I purchased some amethyst earrings from Novica a couple of years ago and I still get compliments on the earrings whenever I wear them plus I have the opportunity to tell the story of the artisan who designed my earrings.  I know there may be other earrings similar in style to mine, but these earrings are hand designed and therefore no two pair are alike.  

For this review, I opted to check out some of their home decor items and settled on a chess set.  An unlikely gift huh?  Not for Los Tres Amigos.  They've developed a love of chess but we can't take our chess set with us on the road...or can we?  I found a portable chess set.  The set contains carved chess shaped pegs that stay in place while we're on the road or can be stored in the beautifully handcrafted wooden case.

Although the pegs were a bit smaller than I anticipated, the kids really thought it was neat because the set arrived with a card detailing the history of the artisan who designed the piece.  Yes, "piece" the chess set sits atop our coffee table and has become quite the conversation piece.  That's what I love most about Novica, their products are museum quality conversation pieces.  Now that the holidays are over, how would you like to win a gift certificate to grab a little something special for yourself?
