Exergen Temporal Scanner Review

Winter is just a few short days away but tis the season for colds and flu.  Just a couple of weeks ago, the youngest and I started feeling a little under the weather so the opportunity to review the Exergen Temporal Scanner could not have arrived at a better time.  Thermometers have changed so much since I was a kid and thank goodness.  No more inaccurate readings!  As many of us prepare for Winter Break I figured now would be a GREAT time to share info about this innovative product.
The Exergen Temporal Scanner uses arterial temperature to determine body temperature thus providing a more accurate reading.  The arterial temp is the rate at which blood flows from the heart and is often different from the readings we get from traditional thermometers or even fever strips.  That's because traditional thermometers that we stick in mouths, ears and bottoms because body fluids, fluid intake and breathing can offset the readings.  This is not the case with temporal scanner likes the Exergen Temporal Scanner.

First of all there is no discomfort so the child is less likely to move.  When I took the youngest son's temp, he didn't move one bit.  You simply press the "SCAN" button on the scanner and glide the scanner across the child's forehead.  The screen will flicker a few seconds but you will soon have an accurate reading.

Another of the fab features of the Exergen Temporal Scanner is the ability to change from Fahrenheit to Celsius.

The Littlest One is experiencing his first "real" winter this year and his parents got their first taste of a sick baby.  I gave them a baby thermometer but after trying the Exergen Temporal Scanner, I am convinced this would be a better thermometer than the one I gave them.  Not only because the readings are more accurate but if you've ever tried to take the temp of a sick, squirming baby then you understand.

Exergen Temporal Scanner makes my list of Baby Must Haves for 2011.
