Not All Whole Grain Pastas Are the Same

We all know the benefits of eating pasta; it’s low in fat and sodium, cholesterol-free and a source of protein. Pasta also is a complex carbohydrate, which gives us much needed energy all day long. Whole wheat and whole grain pasta options are now available that take healthy eating up a notch. But don’t be fooled—not all whole grain pastas are the same.

My Thoughts:  We eat a lotta pasta in the Three Boys and an Old Lady household but we're not huge fans of whole grain pasta.  When I heard about Ronco Whole Grain Pasta I wanted to try it because I know whole grain products are so much healthier but I worried the kids wouldn't eat it...especially the youngest.  Some kids, like mine, can be a bit finicky with various textures of foods and some whole grain items we've bought in the past just don't fare well with my kids.  

We received four boxes of Ronco Whole Grain pasta.  I prepared the penne pasta with chicken and veggies.  Guess what?  The kids ate it.  They loved it.  I didn't dare tell them it was good for them.  Hey, why ruin a good thing.

Ronco Whole Grain Pasta cooked evenly and tasted great.  It didn't have a grainy taste and the texture was nice.  For a whole grain pasta, I admit it was pretty good.  Hubby noticed a difference in taste from our regular enriched pasta but said it wasn't gritty like some of the other whole grain pastas.  

It's nice to know I can feel good serving my family something that's good for them and something that's good for them that they will eat.  If you haven't tried Ronco 100% Whole Grain Pasta because you've tried other whole grain pastas and didn't like them, you may want to give Ronco a try.  It is one of the tastiest whole grain pastas I've tried and who knows you may just like it.
