We aren't particularly close, so: I got him a vintage picture of an ugly, bald, old man. I'm going to send it to him, with a note (or perhaps poem) reminding him that this is where he's heading. He won't get it. Or he'll think I'm being cheeky. Either way, it's cheap and amusing. Win-win. Also, I follow on Twitter under nickpick77!
giving him an iPad 1 because he's never had a computer and at 87 this may be the best way for him to keep in touch with his grandchildren. Of course I have this secret fear that he'll be friending me on FB and tweeting about his breakfast within the month!! ; )

I'm giving him a lovely and extensive assortment of Omaha Steaks. Because nothing says I love you like those delicious steaks on the grill, cold beer, and his family (me included!) around the table laughing with (and at!) each other.
My dad loves reading and he got a Kindle for Christmas. I am getting him an Amazon gift card so he can fill the Kindle up with more books. :)
